There are many senior people who are very good under the leadership and tutelage of a mentor like Vichai, who then struggle to continue to achieve once they are exposed.

You do realise his been dead 4 years?

In that time we have finished 9th, 5th, 5th and 8th and win the FA Cup.

It has more to do with complacency for me, after a success you forget to do the hard things that made you successful.

We got fat and lazy, thinking we had cracked it.

Have you heard him talk about football?? He may of been a good player, an he may think of himself as a good pundit, but he doesn't convey an in depth knowledge to me.

I think that was the joke, my friend 😂

Yeah but I’m sure he thinks he an expert in both

Who moved where in the board room restructure?

I mean after Vichai passed away everything changed. No longer did we have an active owner. And Top and Rudkin sold the club to Brendan and stood by and watched Brendan's ego ravage the club.

Top and Rudkin were important parts of our success but they, left on their own, precipated its downfall.

Let's just forget the two 5th places finishes and an FA Cup win since he passed away.

More then anything we have become complacent.

So that's The Telegraph, the Mail and The Independent quoted in this thread and there is also a similar article today in the Sunday Times, all writing our "how far they have fallen" obituary.

...no questioning regarding Rodgers at the helm, total silence, but we are good fodder for going down!!!

That's like crediting Taylor for topping the league. That was still Vichai's legacy.

You'd think a sporting director who has delivered the FA Cup and Premier League would be head hunted, like Ashworth or Brands, he's never linked with other jobs is he - says it all!

And all the staff under him have fuvked off...

Macia, Steve walsh, most the physio staff pre Bryan English, loads of the scouts, the data guys. A total ****ing mess and one he's made.

Pretty sure Rodgers was approached pre top taking over - rumours started back then.

Correct, I also stand by my point even if we drop though.

We need a banner!

As relegation looks almost certain now, I do hope Top has the bottle to have a good clear out !  As Rudkin is responsible for advising him to keep Brendan until it was too late and having so many players out of contract within 24 months leading to too many of the players having no skin in the game. .. he should be the first to go.

I think we also need a new goalkeeping coach, Stowell has been here so long and had both Iversen and Ward under his tutelage. Ward is so abysmal its hard for a coach not to improve him and Iversens kicking so dire that you do wonder how that did not improve that. Stowell has passed his sell by date.

Surely also the fitness and medical staff needs looking at with the amount of injuries we seem to be getting.

As sad as it is maybe, relegation will be the opportunity for this.

Come on we are talking years later and not a few months.

They may well come but with so many eyes on the usual suspects without sounding too much of a prat if you want one bring one yourself.

I've not forgotten but I don't think they negate the idea of gradual decline.

We achieved those at the apex of our previous good management (the players pre dated Rodgers largely for example)

Rodgers had previously ignored the scouts, physios, academy and contract renewals.

That all took a number of years to fully take affect--it didn't instantly send us into a nose dive. But it did, eventually. And here we are.

Said this before. Plenty of clubs have been taken over and restructured. None of them thought about employing a bloke who was involved with the greatest PL title

There’s zero accountability.

Don't be naive - this isn't an elected body being brought to account for mishandling public funds.

Vichai bought the club and, as long as the operation of the club satisfied legal requirement and FA and Premier rules, he was master of all he surveyed. He was the accountability.

That his son is not as capable or decisive or perceptive as he was shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Ten more years of his father's tutelage might have brought him up to speed, but this is obviously a case of too soon. He became the accountability on succeeding his father. Quite clearly he has not exercised his power to safeguard City's position.

Advisors can and should only be listened to by a leader capable of sorting good advice from the chaff. In his case astuteness was substituted for hope, the hope that Rodgers would eventually turn the situation around. That was naïve too.

Interesting that the article claims Whelan has no say in the football side as there has been evidence suggesting otherwise. She negotiated the Maguire deal and is well in with others at the Premier League. Her phone rings about football question as much Rudkin’s does

The real question, though, is what happens if — or when — Leicester do go down. They would do so with the highest squad cost and wage bill in Premier League history.

When Leicester won the league in 2016, they spent £80m on wages. Now, they spend £182m — behind only the Big Six clubs. It’s also 85 per cent of their £215m turnover, a figure that will plummet by more than £130m if they are relegated.

I know we'll be losing some players, but it won't be nearly enough to reduce the wage bill to Championship levels. Last time we were relegated after a number of years up, we went into administration and nearly lost the club.

Those numbers are really scary. :(
