Bristol City were a mess when he joined them, he’s had to clear a lot of deadwood, reduce the wage bill and build a new squad. You can’t really expect them to be finish higher than 14th with all those issues to deal with. Now they have foundations in place and i’m sure they’ll reap the rewards from Nigel’s hard work.

See the post below from the Bristol City fan.

Let's see where they finish next season before you bang the drum

Coventry have had much bigger issues (including no ground) and have finished higher over the last two seasons. I get fed up "no budget" argument, a lot of clubs in the Championship have little or no budget and get on fine.

Bristol City have a bigger budget than teams such as Coventry, Millwall, Sunderland, Blackburn, Luton, Rotherham and Hull. Yet five of those examples finished higher than Bristol City and three finished in the top 6.

Our style of football has moved on from the style that Pearson plays (not necessarily for the best though). So in one sense it would be a backwards step. However here at LCFC he has an aura about him and is loved by a lot of the fans. If he could get off to a good start we could go like a steam train.

I am 50/50 on this. Love and hate the idea equally!

We definitely need a Manager like him in some ways, but it just feels like with Shakey coming back - Nostalgia has soon worn off.

I think a complete reset is still best and a refresh of all the coaching staff, as well as Rudkin and as many players we can shift as possible.

No thanks .....move on FGS ..................hes yesterday and we need a younger, dynamic manager with some experience and wants to lead a fantastically supported club....ambition, drive, energy, clear plan, credibility as a player and manager in my opinion

Agree with young and dynamic, not sure on credibility as a player part. McKenna fits the bill for me, not that he will leave Ipswich yet, but he doesn't really have credibility as a player.

Fair point Fox......personally think an ex-player who has grown up as a winner with a brain may be good (i.e. Not a Rooney) but also someone who knows about fitness, professionalism as a winner.........not sure who but they do exist - Cambiasso - I watched the series on Simeone on Prime and its immense he is a proper winner with great mentality and not quite the nutter he appears but was clear from his playing career he would be a natural coach as a leader.......i would take Steven Gerrard with Gary Mac because he was stung by Villa and will be determined but someone of the Cambiasso ilk would work!!

If we want to stay in the championship then sure, if we want to progress as a club you need someone like Kompany/ carrick to take the team and use their connections to the bigger clubs. Yes they’ll probably get poached by a bigger club if successful but then you have a contingency plan like Brighton do.

Said it for a while, but Nige would be an ideal DoF in my opinion. Would sort out the sports science side and bring back some accountability at the club.

Big Nige as DOF and someone like McKenna, Robins or Carrick as manager would be good.

Would he even want that though as he is still a manager.

I'm not sure to what extent he'd be interested in that sort of role. He strikes me as someone who loves coaching, working with players and managing games but is less enamoured with the other stuff. Maybe it's the sort of thing he'd do when he's older and doesn't fancy managing any more but I think it's more likely he'd just retire and have a nice peaceful life away from the stress of football.

According to Transfermarkt, Bristol City have only spent €1.6m since the start of the 20/21 season which is less than all of the clubs mentioned apart from Rotherham who finished below them.

Get big Nige in and try and keep JT and Shakey as back room staff.

Get Steve Walsh back.

First training session back who isn’t brave enough to bend down and kiss his sparkly white trainers can get shown the door.

lol

What is it with folk pinning people to roles they've never held? Pearson DOF, Huth DOF/Defensive Coach, Cambiasso manager

Pearson would thrive with the new training ground, Pearson is the man for the job for sure.

Plus he's got us back in the Prem before, as they say its a no brainer.

So has Micky Adams.
