What am I missing here? If I hacked into a company's secure system and stole data from it, I'd be expecting a prison sentence. This is the second such company to openly brag about doing so... And the response is... "how interesting".

The future is that AI will be able to steal and kill and no human will pay the consequences. Especially if they're a corporation.

 

Everything will be AI and no one will be able to sort anything out. We're almost there already.

With occupations like Counselling in particular, do fear that those that need mental support are solely using AI to communicate with instead of a qualified professional who could listen and assist them in real life.

My partner has just completed a "Master of Counselling"... and is working in a volunteer space. It is horrific to hear of the potential (and actual) harm that comes from bad AI help. It truly is a frightening time.

I don't fully understand AI and because of that, I feel quite scared by it. Obviously it can work for good but more sinisterly, could and obviously will work for all the bad that's going to come of it.

I guess I'm like my parents who in the their 80's, couldn't get to grips with automation and doing things like shopping or banking without physically going to a bank or a shop.

My late mum couldn't. She'd marvel that we could order her shopping from our house and it would arrive on her doorstep the next day. 

This rapid progress of AI technology leaves many of us bewildered.

It's the photos you see online that can be deceiving.

 

Hard to know if a photo or video has been AI-generated or not...

You used to able to tell because there were often glitches, but AI is now teaching itself how to be better. It's scary.

Very good report. It predicts where Ai is heading and possible impacts. Lead by someone who was employed by open Ai. Interestingly, he was offered silly money by them to shut up but turned it down.

When do AI companies face prosecution for this? Still just don't think the legal protections against AI are there because there's no humans to take responsibility. Feels almost as if they're using it as a PR exercise.

They can't be prosecuted. They are above governments.

Yeah I was always convinced on the hype of AI and it’s managing to both exceed my expectations and in much sooner timescales.

We've got the grads in our office building agents that will replace said grads. It's dystopian. Imagine explaining this to people in the past or the future.

Well, unless an AI actually wanted humanity to suffer (which tbf given that such AI is often a product of human archetypes is a possibility), then if it gains the power and influence that a lot of folks think it will there's no reason for it to spark the End of Days - it could easily take over the world and guarantee its own existence in a much less directly oppressive fashion. Indeed it could possibly do it in a way that humans might not figure it has taken over at all.
