I get the impression Ricky and Justin will be chomping at the bit, just so glad to just be playing again. Every player has an ego neither were part of the relegation really, an will want to be part of getting us back where we belong. They both know 1 good season injury free, an everything opens up for them again even if we don't get promoted.

If Ricky and Justin both have good, injury-free season's, there's no way that we wont finish in the top two.

I think it was Peter Crouch’s pod very early on during the pandemic / lockdown where they had Andy Robertson on as guest and he said Ricardo and Chilwell were the ones he and TAA would make a note of watching every week. Often gets a bit lost because he’s such an unbearable helmet just how good Chilwell could be for us at times.

On Ricardo, I’d love him to stay if his wages are within reason and I’d love him to play 35+ league games if his body is up to it. He’d play with a cigar on at even 50% in this league and he’s so likeable but there just seems to be far too many ifs with him to be able to get fully on board with him staying should a half decent offer come in.

Is he? Or is that just the perception that a bunch of bitter Leicester fans have? Hangs around with some tools granted but I think that's just being part of a footballer. Having spoken to people who know him or worked with him, they had nothing but good things to say. In fact somebody who used to work for the England Under 21's told me that he was by far and away the nicest lad, with the nicest family (and this guy was an Arsenal fan so no Leicester bias). Just come across as a youngish guy who lives in the football maelstrom.

I always thought he came across well too. Different from the usual working class rags to riches backstory. Nice lad from a middling town.

City fans have always had it in for someone who is perceived to 'have it all'....talent, money, fame, personality AND good looking?  Leicester people's personality is a default desire to bring them down a peg or two.

On a wider note, i wonder if the City will soon lose its eye-ore tendencies?  I live on the edge of town, cycle into town past schools. I'm fascinated by the cultural mix at, say, the new Castle Mead academy. Or the 'catholic' school on Abbey lane (forgot its name) . At Beaumont Leys on Abbey Lane.

Will these kids elevate the attitude.a.bit? Or, as these kids are largely from low income families, will they get sucked in to the negativity?

Joke of a game. I'm quite looking forward to the other two tho. Like I did when we were in LA v PSG!

Not sure why it was never announced by the club?

Fair enough. I'm not good at sources. I just vaguely had it in my head we were playing the this national team too. Presumably the other poster had the same impression

I can see we have 3 pre-season games. I assume we have some behind closed door games as well? 3 would be very concerning unless there's some master plan behind it all.

Supposedly got closed door games going on - Peterborough has been mentioned as an opponent

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/peterborough-united-add-another-friendly-fixture-4208836 - this article mentions P'boro playing two games behind closed doors with no opposition named.

Interesting how much more of pre season is moving behind closed doors for a number of clubs.

I think Bristol City have something like half of their pre season games at their training ground.

I imagine it costs quite a lot to open stadiums for friendlies and clubs don't make enough to justify it anymore.

It's a shame given our 499 seats that they couldn't open up our two BCD games to the public like with U23 games.

Could be down to something as small as a player or two being used in a different position i guess or a different style of play being used.

Taking away anything that could be used against them in the first few weeks of the season.

For us i would prefer all our friendlies to be played behind closed doors as no one really knows how we are going to set up next season could potentially give us the upper hand in the first few weeks before teams become wise to it.

I think that definitely used to be the reasoning. Just feel it’s much more widespread now for it not to be about money.

Like you say if every game was BCD I’d get it. But having some that are and some that aren’t makes me think it’s more logistics than tactics

yeah you're probably right, the cost involved probably outweighs the productiveness .

How many Prem clubs actually play big friendlies in the UK these days? Everything is dotted around the world for Money and exposure. Pretty sure last year Villa player Palace in America in front of about 60k, you're not getting that sort of turn out in the UK for a friendly.

Used to see Leicester rocking up at the likes of Hinckley with a few first teamers but that hasnt happened for some time.

Tbf the PL have moved their pre-season tournament from Asia to the US. Six teams are in that this summer plus another three in the US. Four clubs chose to play in Asia too.

Forest win pre-season friendlies again by playing at Frankfurt and PSV after doing Union Berlin last year. Burnley play Betis in Huelva.

Biggest friendlies in the UK this year are Man U v Lyon at Murrayfield, Arsenal v Monaco, Palace v Lyon. No major team from Europe is coming to England.

Miss the days of us sending a team to the small local sides like Hinckley, Nuneaton and other Leicester based clubs.

Often think we should be sending the U21s at the very least

Can you imagine the uproar on here if Conor Coady get his leg broken by a plasterer for Barwell on a bobbly pitch in July?

Tbf though that’s happened for us playing Champions League teams
