Honestly I'm shocked that this fixture has been so low key, it's the same as last year. With this being an annual fixture I'd love to see the "Vichai Cup" established.

For all we laughed at the Bass Charity Vase the other year, it was a great game, and added a sense of occasion to what is essentially a friendly.

Alternate between here and Leuven each year, ticket sales go to local charities in the areas of both cities, and build a proper sense of community between both clubs and fanbases.

That is a great idea. Top/Susan, are you listening?

Brilliant idea. They could also make it grow aswell.

For example, keep it at either Leuven or Leicester but make it a tri tournament between Leuven, Leicester and say the top league champions of Thailand each year.

Come on now don’t expect such thinking.

By the way, good chunk of staff fly to Thailand today so don’t expect an express update

Can we confirm that this was played as a proper game or was this a glorified joint training session?

Pure speculation on my part, but I can see this being run differently (maybe 3 periods of 30 mins with a lot of squad rotation, maybe some designated time for both teams to take set pieces against each other, I dunno).

edit: as @CosbehFox said, the flights to Thailand are already starting, so I’d also wonder if staff/coaches/player availability and the tight timetable dictated us running today in an unorthodox manner or not.

2  x 45 mins and an extra 30 mins was the format for this fixture during last years pre season, so probably something similar.

Ooh, I forgot about that! So there’s even precedent for us doing something like that with OHL.

Certainly looks like a Wilf attempt to win the ball!

I have it on good authority that the match ended 0-0.

Maddison and Soyuncu with our goals.

Andy King got them a consolation late on.

Agreed.

We should also create a ‘Leuveicester anthem’ as well so Leicester fans and Leuven fans can hold hands and sway together whilst singing at the same time.

Let’s not stop at just the ‘Vichai Cup’, either, in honour of Vichai. With AI capabilities now what they are I think we should be able to create some kind of hologram that can be projected in the center circle pre kick-off so Vichai can give an annual speech and talk about the great historic bond between the two clubs.

And, if not special King Power FC shirts, we could knock up half Leicester and half Leuven shirts. One side wears the home kits 50/50 and the other wears the away kits 50/50.

Let’s really make this King Power family bond a thing!

I know it sounds all sugary sweet, but it's an event that I think a lot of fans would enjoy, and make preseason a bit more entertaining with a bit of community and rivalry.

Plus a potential European away day every other year

Well we won’t be getting many of them in the near future, so sod it, count me in for this festival of King Power family football!

3x 45 mins is good. Pre-season schedule actually starting to look a bit better already, think we've done a good amount of work on the training ground and in these three fixtures in the last few weeks to JUST about justify the trip lol
