That he has started 13 games and we haven’t won any of them, and responding to someone that we played dreadful in his absence even though we gained a point a match as opposed to 0.3

So the 3 points he helped us win against Southampton don’t count because he didn’t play the first 45 minutes even though in that first 45 minutes we were poor, particularly in midfield and in the 2nd half we were much better, particularly in midfield?

I agree, I don't think his issue is mentality. Just don't think he's a premier league standard player

He’s definitely premier league quality. He’s an England international and is outstanding on the half turn. He made a couple of mistakes yesterday but he’s definitely not the problem. The style of footballl we play and specifically his role to break through the press is fraught with risk, and despite playing in a struggling side he’s very good at it.

I'm not just basing it on yesterday. I think he's been way off it this season, as have many of our players so I'm not just singling him out. I worry about his physicality and the lack of impact he's having on games. Maybe I'm being unfair to question his ability as I do think he's a decent player but I think we're starting to see why he was playing for us in the championship last season

You're right though, he isn't the main problem by any means.but he shouldn't be above criticism either

Nah not having that. It's not a "you obviously don't understand football" kind of debate just because he's getting some criticism for once

Yeah it’s a bit of an outlier as a stat, he came on as a sub in one game against arguably the worst team in the league and had an impact. Ignore the 13 he started where we got 4 points and the 4 he missed where we got 4 points.

Maybe bring him on as a sub then

That’s good because I’m neither saying you don’t understand football nor am I looking for a debate

No he's not he's a premier league squad player.Dress it up all you want.

He can do a job but he's no international.

He's well behind Drinkwater, Kante and Izzett and Lennon. And many others without going back too far.Im sure he's a good sort and good to have on board.

I think he would look better in a better side, like he did in the Championship.

Players make more clever moment makes it a lot easy for him, player who are better at give and goes at this level.

He a ball recycler, he need other capable to do the rest.

Better sides have better midfielders that offer both composure on the ball and physicality. Winks has some Europa league level attributes but he's also severely lacking in some areas (ie. Off the ball contribution) that makes him a luxury player at times. He's about a good enough player for where we are now but i cant imagine better sides would be happy with the way opposition players bypass him so easily.

I like him but with how weak we are defensively and with how little he and Soumare really contribute to that side of the game I don't think it is suitable at all for us to use them as a pair

Once Wilf is back it needs to be him with one of Soumare or Winks

Sadly Ndidi seems to take a while to get back to form after injury in recent years. Hopefully that's not the case now as we need him to have a running start when he gets back.

He was fantastic for six months after we signed him but he's never been quite the same since that Watford error. In truth I think he is somebody who will suit a side with a lot of the ball and we're not going to have that in this league.

I still think he’s one of the players we could move on if we needed for this reason.

Soumare has a lot more upside than Winks. I'd say our best option is NDiddi and Soumare providing the defensive shield is a lot stronger as they are both mobile and stronger than Winks.

While  Bilal Facundo and Mav provide the forward trust to support Vardy.

Though we might bring in someone new this Window. Who knows.

Picking on the wrong guy in Winks mate. He’s not the problem in our squad.  Btw - There’s no player in our team that will have great point stats as we haven’t got many points!

Matty James was a poor man’s Oliver Skipp.

lol what a horrific shout.

Matty was an injury away from being a future England call up, he was going to go on to be an absolute star and would have kept DD out long term. DD ended up having a small amount of the success James would of had, sad thing is James wouldn't have wasted that chance...

We miss Wilf so much it's crazy. Not even Wilf from earlier this season, we miss the version of him where his sole job is winning the ball & preventing counter attacks.

He takes so much pressure off the more creative players in the team, not to mention the ease it brings to any two centre halves, knowing they have him in front of them instead of Winks/Soumare who are regularly anywhere but where they're supposed to be.

Funnily enough you say we looked dreadful when he was injured but we actually picked up 4 points in those 4 games.

Jesus! That is awful.

Just not true I'm afraid. James was neat and tidy but didn't excel at anything and he was laboriously slow. A big reason we struggled in 14/15 was because we had James and a 34 year old Cambiasso as the only central/holding midfielders for the bulk of the season. It's no wonder we were overran so often.
