Definitely not a standard FT reaction because almost everyone is aligned with the same, correct view.

Let's say he's on £45k a week, being burdened with that for a player with no long term future, nor can he be bothered, is absolutely bad news. Bizarre to try and spin it any other way. £45k a week at this level should be for an absolute statement player, not for somebody who's performances have been relegation fodder.

Wait .....are you questioning the club? How very dare you!

The only saving grace is his book value will be about £2.5m in the summer so just got to hope somebody sees it as a relatively risk free transfer and we can cover his book value and get his wages off the books.

Book value would be 0, as he was singed on a three year deal. An extension, or new contract doesnt affect it (I believe?)

It does, you spread whatever is left of the book value at the point of renewal to the end of the renewed contract period.

Yeah, I've re thought about this one now..as it was signed after one year of the contract, rather than added on at the end like most one year extensions are.

Is this not good? Could get a fee for him and not on the stupid wages everyone thought. Given he might be in about 40k he will have more suitors too? Slight over reaction I think.

Winks and Skipp bossing league one.

The next article will be the 2 year Daka extension no one knew about.

With Faes back from his loan, Rudkin given a promotion, next season already has that ‘new chapter’ feel to it.

Given his contract renewed after 1 season it’s likely that the book value left will have been reamortised over the remaining 3 seasons of the newly extended contract.

By my rough calcs £10m / 3 would be £3.33m of amortisation each year so after year one £6.67m would be left, he signs new 1 year extension so that is reamortised over 3 seasons which leaves just over £2.22m per season.

I realised after posting this, it was renewed after year one instead of year three.

That was my confusion

He at best is a championship player who is 30 years old and on a  suggested £45k a week.

Lets say he gets offered a 2 year deal at say Middlesbrough on £30k  a week does anyone think he will just say ok ?

No one is likely to pay much for him

The idea that he still has another year on his contract shouts even more loudly as to why he wasn’t sold last summer.  Why wouldn’t you get rid of the wages by selling him for a few million which allows the buying club to pay up his contracted salary from us.

it’s feasible that the player was just happy to see out his remaining two seasons here and take his wages but I don’t believe that there are many pros who can do that. The competitive mental state required to make it to pro level is unlikely to allow that.

just another example of the club being totally impotent when it comes to selling assets ??

If that's the best case scenario, we likely pay remainder of his 45k wages for a year.

He was arguably our best player alongside KDH the year we got promoted, not sure why this is seen as a ridiculous move by the club

Well, it's not really a 'move' if it's written in his original contract. If it was, given our current financial position, it would be insane.

And he was average at best for the second half of that season. Vardy, Ndidi, Pereira and Fatawu all had better start-to-finish seasons than Winks. Maybe you could add Mads and Vestergard to that list too.

If it's TRUE then it's bad news for us.

We need w@nkers like him, Ayew,Daka,Vesty, etc etc ALL out of our club.

These are the germs that contaminate the rest of the squad.

Ieoukd rather have our own home grown, young hungry players losing week in week out than see these cry babies and primadonnas

We can only hope that when we go down he’ll do his utmost to get out of the extra year. There’s no way we’ll be able to afford him. It’s a nightmare.

Time will tell but I'm not overly concerned yet about this.

Im guessing he wants off and we want him gone so I still expect we can part ways in the summer.

People can say he won't get offered enough money but while he's on £45kpw? he's not going to sacrifice a 3+ year contract on less money for one year at his current wage.

Might even go Saudi.

Or Iran.

They'll be looking at better players than him

As will Lincoln if they go up. The very thought of being a league below Lincoln makes me shiver.

Did some really good little bits but also some very poor things, particularly in the first half. Kind of decision making that wouldn't come into the equation when he's at his best
