Wasn't it reported that the players backed Cifuentes when he banished Winks?

 

I mean, the managers he fell out with were largely garbage but they can't all be wrong.

If he was actually any good, we would have had offers for him before now… he’s clearly wanted out for a long time, we clearly realize he’s a bit of a melt and yet  he’s still here.  He’s rubbish and no one wants him!

A bit of melt indeed, but there have been plenty of players in that bracket over the years who clubs have managed to get playing well.  Danny Drinkwater is hardly stable, but was excellent for us at a key time.   If Russel can get him onside, playing and feeling like he is the star like Enzo did, we will have a much better last year of his contract that it appears.

I dont get it, he hasn't directly mentioned Winks, nor has he answered any questions on him. Its just a piece from the new lad at the Mercury (who will need to get content out that gets the fanbase talking) who's putting 2 and 2 together.

I’m sure we can get someone a lot cheaper and less of a helmet to pass the ball sideways and backwards.

Let's wait and see if Martin actually picks the bell or not.  New Mercury lad might be the clickbatiest journo yet (and that's saying something).

100% This He's done his job, sparked a bit of a debate on here, based upon pure speculation and putting two-and-two together.

 

My money would still be on him leaving.

 

Arguments for him to leave:

He won't see himself as a League 1 player.

We won't be able to afford his wages, so we'll actively try and get him his move.

He wants to live closer to home.

He hates it here

 

Arguments for him to stay:

He might be happy to just see out his contract and pick up his wage, regardless of not playing 

He might really really want to play for RM (can't see this being the major factor people are hanging their hat on tbh. Too much water under the bridge with LCFC and Harry)

 

I think he'll be gone. Long live Sammy Braybrooke

I agree with the concept of what you’re saying.. but with regards to Winks himself, you bypassed my main point and this is… if he is any good, why havnt we had offers for him? Why is he still here, he’s not wanted to be here for a while, we’ve not wanted him for a while, yet he’s still here!

Still here because nobody thinks he is worth the wages he is on. And to be fair, they’re absolutely right.

Hardly a wild opinion, though. A bloke known for an endless possession style would probably want a player known for endless passing. He is a Russell Martin player. Plus every new manager has given him a chance.

If he's here on the first day of the season it's almost certain he'll play. Outwardly, as in for people who haven't closely followed up over the last 18 months, he looks like he should be central to the club's plans. Martin will be no exception.

 

We as fans know differently - the board should too - but Martin will see an ex-England international and a player with Champions League experience.

I'd sell him purely cus of the coin hes on. But I dont mind winks at all lol

Think he brings a bit of shpunken that's missing from most of our players.
