I have to admit I’m really starting to appreciate this lad. I thought he had a very good game and showed lots of energy and enthusiasm. Improvement in his link play and crossing is noticeable. Well done.

Yes, I had thought he was somewhere between crap and limited but I like his work rate and some of his forward passing and crossing have been superb over the last 2 games.

For a guy who has certain limitations, he’s got forward pretty well in the last two games, even though he lacks dynamism and 1 vs 1 ability.

Linking play, allowing him to make overlapping runs and get early crosses into the box seems his main strength.

Thought a LB was a must in January, but if Victor continues to show promise, it might not be a priority after all.

There's more priority for a right back tbh. I'd sooner rely on Kristiansen than JJ!

I’m starting to lean towards that idea too.

But it would probably mean that player will have to invert as a CB like JJ.

On the ball hee reminds me of Albrighton in a way, hard to explain but I feel like his footballing brain operates on a higher level than his skill level. Going forwards he seems to try and be very direct and sees the picture in front of him quite well. Often attempting passes into good space or onto a run that one of the forwards are making.

He's tenacious at the back, again not particularly fast or strong, but he does a fair job.

I find him quite likeable and hope he can continue to play a decent role under Ruud.

Another one that looks a completely different player- was very good at limiting bowen against west ham and did very well yesterday again- need some obvious cover but he is doing a solid job for me at nailing down his starting spot - im loving that him , coady , vesty , soumare and bdr are all showing they have something to offer- great for us squad wise

Puts in half decent performances at home most of the time

But can’t think of a decent performance from him away from home

Bizzare!

He gave Murphy the freedom of St James’s Park as he wandered into the centre to help two defenders to give us 3 on Isak.
Him Hamza and Skipp were atrocious.

I like him a lot. You are pretty much on point with Albrighton likeness. He works his ass off, and put in the shift. Making good runs, but without the right support. You always see him trying to overlap the wingers, be it Mavididi or whomever. But no pass ever comes to him
He will then run his ass back to defend without complaining. You cannot find many player with this kind of mentality and athleticism. Technicality wise, a lot work needs to be done. Football IQ is there, but need polishing.

But I can definitely tell he is a team player, and that's what we need.

I blame Hamza and Skipp on this. VK was probably given the responsibility to work has ass up the pitch. But the midfield is supposed to cover on his way back. Our midfield was to blame for today, Everybody else played shit because they were on the backfoot 99% of the time. Why? We couldn't even control the game.

Sure they were culpable but he was in the middle of the box helping two other defenders against Isak leaving Murphy in acres of space and not just once. I guess he may have been instructed to do that.

Don't really blame VK for Murphy getting those couple of shots, off, all of those moments came about from the midfield being bypassed, and Isak then rinsing the centre halves with his footwork meaning he had to come over on the cover.

I'm pretty indifferent towards VK, but I don't think he can be blamed entirely for yesterday. Could be wrong of course, but it seemed like he was asked to tuck in and make a 3 (a tactic Cooper used a lot ) wherever possible. I think the logic may have been that Jacob Murphy's shot conversion ratio is pretty poor, so it was a gamble (that massively backfired) to allow him to have the ball so we could double-up on Isak, the clear danger man. It looked to me like VK ended up having to cover two positions, and inevitably it didn't go well as Murphy had a stormer. Maybe I'm way off, but I suspect it was a tactical risk that didn't pay off at all.

Might explain why he never seemed quite sure where he should be positioned. He's supporting as an extra CB while their RW is absolutely running the show. I think he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, to be fair to him.

Did an interview in Danish with Viaplay which was posted yesterday.

Transcribed the 2-minute video below.

On RVN first impression:

"It's been good. He's a talented coach. He has a lot of experience, you feel that clearly. You listen when he speaks, he knows his stuff.

Obviously it's never optimal to be hired in the middle of a season. I think every coach would like to have a pre-season with some calmness and a few friendly games without pressure to build up everything.

But these are the conditions, and yeah, I'm sure it'll happen eventually with his ideas and get them implemented well.

RVN is a big name in football, a proper legend of the game. How is it having such a character in the dressing room, who commands such a big aura?

"As I said, you bloody listen to him! He knows what he's talking about. He's experienced standing on the pitch and feel the pressure, feel the buzz et cetera, so it's amazing. I love playing for coaches who've done it all before. I tried it last year with Thiago Motta - it was exactly the same. Amazing leaders and as I said, they have an aura."

So you think it's positive to have a leader who's been in your position and played in the big games at big addresses himself?

"Yes, I think so. I think it's great."

And what noticeable changes do you feel he's made in his time so far?

"Well, uh, he's tried to stabilize and settle the defense a bit more, put some positional templates in place, but as I alluded to earlier, it's always difficult when the fixture list is so congested. There are lots of games, few high-intensity training sessions, so yes, in that sense it always takes a bit more time."

Just watched the second arsenal goal on MOTD.

All he had to do was track merino, leave okoli in the middle and that goal wouldnt have happened

He even looked and saw merino earlier. Not like he was blindsided by him

He's done this repeatedly over the course of the season.

Often drawn to the centre and leave his mam

Don't let this guys attacking play fool you with his lack of defensive skills.

A championship player at best.

Alright for him to **** off to Italy when we went down and he's just as shit as when he played his part in taking us down.

Another one who's not up to the task.

Attacking play ? His Attacking play is shocking,he either whips a poor cross which 9/10 gets blocked ,or his decision making is real bad when in the final third as,for his defending that even worse, today he was bad at both ends of the pitch. If someone puts in a reasonable offer in, the summer accept it and move on joke of a player tbh.

He doesn't have the energy to go up and down all game long. You can see him visibly tire through the 2nd half most games, and not track his man. He probably needs to work more on his fitness or be more selective in when he goes forward.
