This bloke genuinely thinks he's better than what he is.

I cannot stand him. One of the worse defenders I've ever seen, only thing he can do is pass well.

He would've eaten strikers alive in league 1

I gave the club some leeway for the contract initially because, extremely naively, I assumed we couldn’t possibly be thick enough to have done this without break clauses/ significant wage drops etc but here we are.

I tend to want to see the best in things and situations but ****ing hell these ****s are making me look pretty stupid.

he got us by the nadgers, he knows we wont be able to sell him, as no one will pay for him,  so if its mutual we will pay off at least 50% of his wages for the year coming, he can then approach teams on free transfer, they will be more willing to pay bigger signing on fee and salary, (i can promise you he is already in talks with clubs)  which is pretty crappy and loyalty is 0,  i cant stand him as a player.. but were gonna get stung even more, and he will pocket more.  which is shocking.

Yep, this strategy of signing ageing ex EPL players, I think some blamed on Cooper, but it has been carried on.

As has been said previously on another thread, I will reserve judgement on this signing when we know who else is being brought it

You can see why it was done, but stronger management says no to Enzo

Enzo had just taken us straight back up. It was a no brainer for Khunt/sniffer to sanction this deal .

Complete guess but surely the only reason Enzo bought KDH was to someway make up for ****ing us with Vesty and pissing off to Chelsea

I know I’m in the minority on this, however I think of all of our defenders, he’s in the crop that are half decent. He’s just a very specific type of player that compliments himself with someone like a Winks; that is also uber hated on here.

They are system players and very one dimensional to a degree. Like asking a fish to climb a tree, they aren’t going to be very good at it.

They both are suited to Russell Martin football

however, so unless we have a cunning plan, we could be set for a bit of rude awakening next season.

Watching Okoli and Kristiansen, trying to pass a bloody football 10 yards was at time, painful.

It was a disgrace at the time with the new contract and left all of us baffled, one of the most odd decisions (there’s obviously been many) that these idiots in charge have made.

He's been relegated with us about 8 times and can't defend

I mean, he’s not has he?

He’s been relegated three times and two of those were from the Premier League, one in which he hardly played.

He’s also been promoted from the Championship and played in a Southampton team that was steady in the Premier League.

Lots of people had him amongst he best defenders in the Championship when we got promoted.

Him and Souttar (if he stays) would be the best centre back partnership in the league by a mile.

People are just cutting their nose off, to spite their face in my opinion.

Almost like i was being hyperbolic wasn't it?!

We got this last time we dropped from the Prem – I nearly had to mute the term "Rolls Royce" last summer. He was crap last year, has got even slower, can barely move, breaks the lines with the odd pass but by and large spends *forever* on the ball to the point his passing ability is more of a hindrance than a help, and, for a big man, is garbage in the air.

A lot of revisionism about that Enzo season n all – he was booked 14 times. That is not the sign of one of the Best Defenders In the Championship I'm afraid.

Steady in the premier league?

He was a big part of the second worst defence in the league when we signed him, we had just put 9 past Southampton and their fans could scarcely believe their luck that some mug wanted to buy him

Could it be that we have him by the 'nadgers'?

He wants to play in a higher league, he wants a signing on fee.  If we have to pay half his wages a year, might as well keep him rather than dance to his tune.

There is a world of difference between signing ageing plodders to play in the premier league and signing them when you're on your arse in league one.

The Southampton fixation continues

Enzo wasn’t in control of Chelsea’s transfer policy

he clearly decided he wanted KDH because he was an insurance policy on the way he wanted to play. As it transpired, the existing players at Chelsea bought into it so he was a bit part player there.  The signing of KDH was nothing to do with us giving lurch a contract!

18/19 - 16th - Goals conceded 65 - 5 teams worse

19/20 - 11th - Goals conceded 60 - 5 teams worse

20/21 - 15th - Goals conceded 68 - 1 team worse

All in the Premier League.

Also part of our defence that got promoted and was by in large, very good.

He is more than good enough for league 1.

Albeit, he can’t be bringing a dog to training, ever again.

They were in a situation where they'd already pissed Enzo off so much by basically lying to him about the PSR situation. So when that summer hit they instantly extended his contract on the demands of Enzo. He then of course left and that great sporting alignment appoint a manager who doesn't have any kind of alignment with Enzo.

Glad to see we have learned our lesson finally though by not trying to get a manager we can't afford and feed him with signings beyond our means to make it look to him like we are all fine 👀

Rogers badgered him to sign, then realised how slow he was and denied all input into his signing.Vesty called him out so Rogers made him train with the kids and played big Dan.

That's what I said.  Second worse defence in the league when we signed him.  Madness.  We were chasing Champions league l.

It doesn't matter whether he was any good in Enzo's possession heavy team that didn't have much defending to do (although I would argue that his defending, when he had to, wasn't up to much) because we gave him a three year extension when we had already been promoted to the premier league.
