Haha nothing personal. Just was browsing through the thread to see how hyped we were about him and spotted it.

no point making shouts about the future if you can’t look back on them :dunno:

I saw one with me calling faes prime soyuncu in another thread, it’s swings and roundabouts

The whole thing has gone rotten, we could have prime Ronaldo and Messi and they would turn shit.

For all I've hammered him though, could totally imagine he left and was steady for another team in this league.

I mean Faes and Edouard are doing alright in Ligue 1. We're the common denominator.

Man has turned into Jeffrey Schlupp. Everytime the ball comes to him, he looks like he has no idea what to do with it.

With those two the common denominator is English football. If either had gone on to thrive at another English club you may have a point, but they haven’t. In Edouard’s  case, Palace fans also thought he was absolute dog shit.

Stephy’s case is different because he was actually decent for us in the Championship last time. I don’t think that can be said of Faes, though some may disagree.

Is that before or after he has straightened the crease in his shorts…

Jeff Schlupp won the Premier League, I'd say Mavididi turned into a Danny N'Guessen level player.

Actually N'Guessen's numbers in his first season were better than Mav's numbers this season. Ouch!

Calls for him to play upfront are so dumb - he’s consistently been the worst finisher at the club this season (yes, worse than Daka),

While that is valid, I somehow doubt Ayew or Daka could've done what Edouard's done for Lens this season which is be a first choice striker for a team that are going to at worst qualify for the Champions League. Ayew of course being another player who was signed for the Premier League.

Also I'd say Ligue 1 is a tougher league than the Championship (admittedly nowhere near the Premier League) and Faes was struggling in the Championship this season.

I don't think it's tougher as such. It's different—Ligue 1 is more spaced out and tactical compared to the Championship, which has more physical duels and less time on the ball. So it doesn't automatically follow that a player who has done well in Ligue 1 will be good in the Championship. It will depend on the individual player's attributes. Soumare won the title with Lille the season before us and has been a flop in the PL and the Championship. Ngolo Kante came from a much lower-ranked French side and was arguably the best player in our PL-winning side.

Edouard seems like a classic example of a player suited to playing in France and even Scotland, but not in England. Faes is not quite as clear cut as he occasionally showed flashes of being able to play in English football, but did not do it consistently enough for us to say that he successfully adapted to either the PL or the Championship.

We don't have strikers who can finish now though. I think it'd worth a game, or half of one surely?

I could see the ball sticking a bit more, more fouls being won in dangerous areas etc.

Mavididi might run himself into trouble, but his pace through the middle would be more disruptive than what we currently offer.

Don't see it, his finishing is woeful and he doesn't use his "pace" (in quotes as I'm not sure if he has it or doesn't realise it if he does haha) when he's out on the wing. It's entirely predictable that he'd be awful up front and likely do less of the actual moving like a striker that Daka does.

Has to be Mukasa or Hutchinson if Daka is dropped.

Mavididi as a Striker and Fatawu as a wing back are two of the worst things I keep seeing on here :D

Yeah fair enough. I'm not saying it is guaranteed to work, but we're just so poor up top it could be worth a go.

It's not like we play to any kind of aerial ability and he would definitely win more fouls with balls into feet.

He's out of form, but I think his link up would be better.  It's just sad that we've spent £25m on the other two options available and I want an out of form player (in his favoured position) to replace them.

I genuinely can't believe that we probably have 2 of the worst strikers in this league and Hutchinson or Evans didn't even get a chance. Considering the impact they've both had, it's hard to argue we'd have lost much even if the other lads turned out to be well off it. At least they'd have gained some good experience.

Obviously though, I'm aware that if those lads were getting a chance and not ripping it up, there'd be a good portion of fans making out that we've left 2 premier league strikers on the bench who'd be doing much better haha.

We've tried player a winger up front most of the season with Ayew, doesn't work. Playing an even more anonymous option there won't work, not even worth trying.

Not skilful.

Not particularly quick.

Rarely beats his player.

Not great at tracking back.

Very little goal threat.

Never been a great crosser of the ball.

he's our POTS then

He doesn’t have a single redeeming feature - he’s a waste of a shirt anywhere on the pitch. He runs into defenders like he’s running in the woods in the dark.

I’d much rather see Fatawu switched to the left, taking on the fullback and getting balls in for Daka and James.

Aluko doing the same RW.

I thought he did alright, particularly in the second half. Bit confused why he’s apparently the scapegoat today? For me the game changed massively when Skipp was hooked and Bobby Reid took his place.
