Why undisclosed, dont the upper management want to be open with us?

Deal took about a month too long, but its done, better than keeping him here on the sidelines.

Because why would they want to tell other clubs what money we might have to spend ?

Shamefully no, but does that make Castagne forgiven?

Nothing to forgive. Of course he had a bad season but I am sure it wasn't due to lack of effort. He is a versatile player who always played wherever he was asked to play.

Don’t understand why people are so happy to get rid our PL quality players. For Castagne, he is still only 27. Although given he wants to leave and he has been quite poor for us defensively for a while, I am not as precious about losing him. But I like us to keep Nacho (please) and Soumare. For Daka, if we can recoup the cash we paid for him then perhaps ok but he has potential that we have not unlocked with him.

Conflicted.

On the one hand a very capable defender with a hundred plus appearances.

On the other, he describes leaving the club as a relief.

On the balance, good riddance. Would have been useful but if he views the club that poorly then he get lost.

I wouldn't look too deeply into that, the last 2+ years at this club have been toxic, the club has been falling apart, the manager was destroying the club from the inside out and the ownership didn't seem to care, on top of that the frustration from fans les to Tim getting a lot of unnecessary stick from fans. I don't care about him calling it a relief, a large part of me is happy for him that he escaped. He's easily a premier league defender that did not really do much wrong, he was dragged down by incompetence imo. I imagine it's a breath of fresh air to get out!

Good enough for Belgium and the Premier League, and now going to Fulham. Not good enough to be in the squad of a team playing in the Championship. Still young too.

A bit conflicting there. All I hope is the club knows what it is doing unlike the last 2-3 years.

He is definitely better than this league. Fine if he has been given a mission to get us out and he wants to, but if he is not even wanted in a Championship side, then definitely best to “escape”. I agree he is better than how Rodgers used him. His strength as Rodgers said himself at the beginning was his engine and ability to get up and down the right side. Without a right winger, he was asked to do everything on the right, but then he was Rodgered as well in terms of turning into a conservative player so he rarely did the things he did best when he first arrived (running down the right channel with support of a right winger and creating space or a passing option and then crossing into the area). He is much better than his performances showed last year because of Rodgerism. I blame Rodgers.

Having said that, defensively he was woeful last season. He played players onside so many times I cannot remember and his defending at the back post was atrocious. Having said that, the whole team was set up wrong so he is not fully at fault there.

Overall, I am disappointed that we did not even give a regular Belgium international a chance even at this second tier level.

Same goes for Thomas, Daka and Soumare. Meanwhile, no idea why we are not shipping out Ward!

I think we should stand back and consider what he meant by “relief”. I had the same feeling of disappointment at first but consider this: as a top flight footballer which he is and a Belgium international, he was not even on the bench for Mareseca in a Championship side. If he was told that please Castagne we love you to stay to help us out he may well have felt that he owes it to the club to get us out of this league. But not only did he not play but he was not even in the team for a Championship side? Come on? I think relief is probably a light word to use. Imagine you are in his shoes, one option is to rot in the Championship (and risking also his international career) and another option is to play in the EPL? What would you choose? And facing down the alternative of feeling depressed for not even being in a Championship side, would that be a “relief”? He is also Belgian so his choice of words may not be as English as we like.

He was an average Premier League defender on Premier League money. We needed to sell players and I imagine reading his comments on departure, he didn’t want to be here.

Not as good as Ricardo attacking (maybe even defending). Not as good as Justin defensively. Given they’re both injury prone. He was error prone last season and whilst he fits the system in that he could step into Midfield, if he wanted to leave, best of luck to him in the future wars ahead.

He’s a Belgium international yes, however he’s almost played as a utility man for them, having played as many games in Midfield, as he has in defence. Belgium have been massively overrated internationally as they’ve had a few great players. However, as a player, he’s never play international football for England, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Brazil etc

Suits all parties. Think he was OK, nothing special, not terrible, but unfortunately is going to be too associated with last season for him to get any decent reception. The main plus I can give him is he clearly didn't like Rodgers.

He was asked to do too much. There was no one to help him in defence once he bombs up field. He then gets criticised for not being there. As a result, he wasted all his attacking prowess by sitting back much of the time with no one to pass to on his right side (as we had no right winger!). I think he would surprise us with good performances with Fulham.

PS. I agree he is not a top top player though. Ricardo is way better.

I am concerned that ours mods have been asleep on the job?

It's jut not proper Leicester to say Tim's gone to Fulham. Any fool knows it should read 'Castagne gone Fulham'. I am disappointed that fellow FTers have been engaged in swapping opinions on Timmy's merits and demerits when there was a weightier subject demanding our attention too.

Right so I assume they will tell us in September then right?

The problem you mentioned easily avoided by buying before selling.

To who? Someone needs to be willing to buy him for us to sell him, and not many clubs budget to pay wages for a static training dummy
