Listen, he was decent enough, steady, but just seemed to have an air about him that he was better than us after relegation and couldn't wait to ditch us. We need the money. Onwards.

This is the first time I can remember the club taking a loss on a player, as we signed him for 21.5M.

We need to do it more often though, if players don't work out, having them sit around achieves nothing.

Castagne was decent enough for us, but time to go and time for a fresh squad and ideas.

Pretty sure we've lost plenty of players at a loss.... Rachid, Musa, Iborra, Kramaric, Gray, the 175 players who we've loaned out until their contracts expired, or used until they expired, Silva who we just paid off.

Loss on what we've brought him for, but in terms of amortisation of the fee we should be doing well there.

But you're right, times we need to accept we've signed poorly and recoup any losses to move on.

Another one who'll mainly be remembered as being associated with relegation for me

This. Hope we play them next year so Stephy can turn him inside out.

Can’t run, can’t head, can’t pass and should have been an estate agent the amount he shows people inside.

Always likes Castagne and never really understood the stick he got, but I guess we all see the game differently.

A good move all round, another big earners who didn’t want to play in the Championship gone and some cash in the bank - I think he’ll do well at Fulham.

Christ, we finished 5th twice with him and won an FA Cup and Community Shield! I don't relegation should be the overriding memory 😅

Tend to agree with this, but I’m amazed anyone cares enough either way to start the debate.

Off you fvck mate, absolute bomb scare, will never forgive him for giving away that needless penalty v Everton or the back post header vs Leeds

Btw his agent was trying to court clubs as early as November 2021

TBF that’s exactly what they are paid to do, his and hundreds of other players agents would constantly be looking for better options, that’s how they get their big pay days.

Decent player nothing more.

Got Rodgered and hated Rodgers, so good on him for that.

Never recovered after his injury and Rodgering so best all round for him to start afresh.

He obviously saw himself as above second tier football so may have come across badly for a few weeks at the end!

If we can follow this up with cash sales for Ndidi and Daka, loan Soumare with an obligation and sign THB and get in another quality midfielder, id have to say it’s a very impressive window

Decent player on his day, but blew hot and cold. Wasn't great last season, didn't want to be here for this season and we've got a decent fee and chunk off the wage bill.

Let's bring in THB and move on.
