15 million is great business. Got another useless whinger out the door along with his overinflated wages. From his comments it looks like he was desperate to leave, and we were obviously desperate to get rid. If we can give that straight to Man City for Harwood-Bellis we'll have played a blinder here.

This is the first time I can remember the club taking a fairly sizable % loss on a player, as we signed him for 21.5M.

We need to do it more often though, if players don't work out, having them sit around achieves nothing.

Castagne was decent enough for us, but time to go and time for a fresh squad and ideas.

Apart from the £100m+ worth of players who left on a free this summer? And we've currently got a host of players we spent approx £75m on due to leave for free in summer 2024...

Bang average and clearly hasn't been happy for a while. He never has particularly bad games but neither did he have particularly good. 14 million banked and 60k off the wage bill 👍. Barnes and Madders were far bigger talents.

Few good games. Mostly sub par. Came with a good reputation but really wasn't the flying full back I expected.

15mil including add ons is reasonable business. Let's go get THB now.

Just need a few more out now. Going to be an interesting few days.

It feels like sunk cost fallacy. We've already spent £24M on the player, so if we keep paying his wages, he will surely get better, right!?

50% of transfers go wrong. If it doesn't work out, move onto the next one. We could have loaned him out, loaned another player in and ended up 3 points better off, which would have kept us in the Premier League. At least with this departure, it's recognising it's time to get some money back, which can help the club move forwards.

Agreed, we’ve definitely been too scared to just cut our losses with a lot of players

Bit harsh imo.

Castagne played 90 minutes in the FA Cup final and kept Alonso quiet in that game, when he was a major part of how they attacked. In other words, turned up and played a crucial role on one of our greatest days.

Also, when he was on the same team sheet with Justin, we usually did pretty well as we had options to attack on either wing.

For me, Castagne had his ups and downs, but will have much more on his positive than negative column during his time with us. Sure, he played nearly every game and was a major part of the defence the year we got relegated, but think the likes of Rodgers, Ward and Amartey carry much more responsibility for our demise.

Conversely didn't turn up on many of our worst days.

Pleased for everyone involved really.

I don't have any problem with Castagne. Think he did his job and his faults were never from a lack of effort.

£15m for arguably our third best rightback is good going considering we dont actually play with right backs.

Some more money in, and more money off the wage bill. At the end of the day it looks like he wanted the move and it also looks like he wasn't in Enzo's plans so win win for both parties. Best of Luck to the Guy.

Now let's use the money wisely :fc:

"It's been a long transfer window, but finally I'm here, and I'm happy to be here," Castagne told FFCtv.

"It's a big relief. I've talked to the manager and I just can't wait to start training and playing."

Yeah, sorry that we paid you £70k per week and were keeping you here against your will!!  Willy puller.

I don't think it's that deep. This transfer had dragged on all summer, everyone should be relieved that it's finally been confirmed and that we can all move on.

Not too fussed about losing him as Ricardo is better (fingers crossed we keep him fit). Barnes and Maddison were the huge losses as they can't be replaced man for man but we don't even need to replace Castagne. He's been a decent player for us and I've got nothing but respect for him but given we needed to lose some wages and bring some more money in so we can continue our squad rebuild, it's a decent deal all round.

Can you name one player who turned up on our worst days?

Seems a good fit for Fulham, he’s very much a ‘Fulham’ type player.

I always liked Timmy, however he was never any more than solid, rather than being exceptional.
