This highlights the challenge next season. Everyone is going to be gunning for the team with the fancy training ground and big wages.

It's going to be mega tough in League 1. We might not have a budget for a new manager or players as any funds from player sales will be needed to cover existing player contracts and to keep the lights on at seagrave.

Other teams will play a low block and we'll have to try and break them down, it's bleak.

I have no positivity or optimism for next season and think administration and/or relegation to League Two is a real possibility.

However, the only thing to cling onto right now is that there's so many unknowns (manager, player turnover) that any sort of prediction is almost pointless.

Based on recent history, free fall and relegation is the more likely outcome, not a challenge for the title.

May be an image of football, American football and text

Something very close to this happened to me at Wembley when Heskey equalised against Boro. Probably my first crowd surfing experience. Absolutely yeeted by a couple of blokes behind me (I'd been in tears shortly before and they were being nice in their own way.)

The big-day-out-o-meter is going to be off the scale. Clubs that usually take 400 away from home will be bringing 3200 like it's nothing. Inflatables, the lot. Going to be more of a circus than it is usually down there.

In some ways having Leeds in L1 with us last time helped with this.

How many of the really big clubs like Leicester, West Brom, Leeds, Ipswich et al actually end up spending much time in Div 1 ? Very few.

And how many carry on through to Div 2 ? None that I am aware of.

Wolves went from first to fourth division with three successive relegations in the eighties. But yes, it's very rare.

So many variables. None of us really knows what will happen. All outcomes, from an immediate promotion to a third successive relegation, are in play

This is why right now we can be excited for next season. Right now we could start next season with a new manager, new coaching staff, an entirely new team and, who knows, new owners and a new director of football.

Yep

At the moment I'm watching psg in the champions League.

Everybody running forwards.

More teams seem to be breaking away from the man city era 11 behind the ball and just keep the ball style football.

I want to see players running forwards for Leicester.

Swansea City went from 4th to 1st and back down to 4th in nine seasons which is some going.

Northampton went  from the 4th Division to the 1st and back again in 8 seasons in the '60's. Or is that just a tale of Cobblers ?

It's true I remember it happening.

Wiki

Under Dave Bowen, the club achieved three promotions from the Fourth Division to the First Division within five years. However, Northampton only survived for one season in the top tier of English football, being relegated in 1966. Northampton then experienced two further relegations in three years to return to the Fourth Division by 1969

My first game at Filbo was home to Northampton Town in their only season in the First Division in 1965-66.

They lost just about every away game that season but if memory serves, held us to a 0-0 draw.

I’d been 8 or 9 times before I finally saw a home win - kind of set the tone for the next 50 years!
