CrazyKopCorner Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I've been an Enzo fan but last night has to blow a big hole in any future he has with us. When Plan A doesn't work we're going to give it even more of Plan A until we totally capitulate I'd be looking for a new manager whatever happens from here in 2
dannythefox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I just can’t see us in the prem playing this way, Kompany is the same he’s not changed and look how poor Burnley have been.
Popular Post Koke Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 I got slated after the Birmingham result fir being too negative. The team is negative, not me. Hopefully we fluke our way over the line but god help us next season whichever league we are in. 5

Who are they bombing on to provide crosses for? Think we sold Hirst. I'm not a football snob, I just don't think that would work mate. What a great idea, instead of having two natural FB’s in Ricky P/JJ offer an overload/width let’s get a lazy, incompetent CB in Faes to give the ball away instead? I’m sorry mate but it’s painfully obvious that our current plan is to get the ball to Stephy/Abdul (not even quickly) and see if they can trouble their FB from a standing position and hope something comes off. At least if we regularly offered an overload (rotate which side during the game for all I care) at times, we might actually see something that isn’t this possession for possessions sake football. 1

Even when we win we are boring to watch, when we lose it is excrutiating. Enzo needed an experienced head alongside who was confident to let him know when he is making mistakes and when he needs to think about changing his approach, instead weve given the kid the candy shop. If we fall over the line and get promotion... I hope we are planning a rapid replacement. I woke up actually angrier thinking about Enzo and our many current faults. How he has yes men around him and not one experienced coach is coming home to roost. 4
jonny_wright Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 My expectation is he will be sacked sometime next season whichever division he is in, you have to be reactionary in football, next season we will be far far weaker, and this football will be even harder to implement
foxinsocks Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 (edited) Enzo will not progress as a manager unless he learns. The man city patient style works if you have world class players who can skillfully unlock a defence with a run, pass or shot. Otherwise it's just keepball. We need more modes of play in our locker. He seems to have sucked the will to win out of the players Edited 10 April 2024 by foxinsocks 1
Tommy Fresh Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Hard to believe that it's still down to us if we win the title or not

Hamza has the energy and recovery runs ability to shuffle sideways all game, filling in for players bombing forward. It's a routine, obvious, orthodox tactic that's used regularly for a reason. It works.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I've never watched a successful season with so much disinterest thanks to that man. I can't stand watching our club right now, thinks he's the Magnus Carlsen of chess when in reality he's a Tim Sherwood of management. Inexperienced, anti football, stubborn, out of his depth. 4

Happy Fox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 We need to mix it up away from home now, play two strikers from the start get the likes of Albrighton / Coady involved. Change it up Enzo! 1

Change it up Enzo! If I see Wout Faes and Stephy Mavididi play like they did yesterday against Plymouth and still be on the pitch at 60 minutes I won’t be held responsible for my actions. We have a squad Enzo: f*****g use it!!

Pliskin Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Enzo needs to have a look at his mate Pep. Even he ****ed off the inverted fullback role recently….. it what coaching school does it say “the key to success is relentlessly applying your personal philosophy, even when things are desperate to be changed”…….
phoneticerror Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 The change in the thread title gave me the smile I needed this morning
Stadt Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I wonder how many limp defeats we’d have to suffer before he changed the system? 20, 30? Never? Its borderline stupidity at this point 1
shiv Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I’ve taken the time to reflect on the game, here’s my balanced view on Enzo. -He should have made more changes to the starting XI. When you look back to earlier in the season, he wasn’t afraid to rotate and we were still picking up wins. -He is too late with his subs and his in game management needs a lot of work. -He is a serial overthinker. Why did he stop Ricardo from being inverted last night? Why did he swap KDH and N’Didi? Some very small but unnecessary changes in my view. However, I think it’s a little premature to call for his head. We are on course to finish on 90+ points at our first attempt back to the PL. People are too focused on the 17 point lead, we were never going to finish on 2.5 points per game let’s be honest (that would leave us at 116 for the season). He has also inherited half a team of cast outs that didn’t really get a look in last season. In terms of the style, I totally understand why he prefers us to control the game. The few times we bombed forward from counter attack last night, we got left exposed at the back and they had half chances. We have the slowest CBs in the league arguably, so bombing forward is not the answer IMO. Having said that, we need to be much quicker in possession. Our best play came from when we zipped it around with one touch football. Players looked jaded and offered no movement to Faes & Vestergaard who just ended up playing it around the back. It’s still in our hands. And I also think 1 of the 2 teams below us will fall off. I’m bought into the style, considering he only joined us last summer he’s done a great job getting players’ buy in. I just think we lack quality in some areas and need another busy summer of refreshing the squad (hopefully in the PL). And he definitely needs to improve in some areas too. You just hope he learns from his mistakes, so far we’re seeing the Rodgers style stubbornness which he needs to get out of his system.

I think it would be far more effective than having Ndidi as an attacking threat. Here's an idea. Why don't we play Wilf in his best position which is defensive midfield and he can then cover across. You know, the things he is actually good at doing and was one of the best in the Prem.

We looked like we thought ‘yeah, we’re back on top where we belong and we just need to rock up and pass it around to win’. We forgot that the other team are fighting for their lives.
