It's obviously scumbag behaviour which myself nor anyone on this forum will condone. However, has it really kept anyone up all night? You can choose to be upset it by it if you want but really you should just pity them rather than baying for blood. Life's to shirt to get worked up about it.

£300 between them is light imo, you can get fined more for dropping litter.

£300 for doing gestures. It's a lot of money, especially for people like them.

My wife was fined for that very offence outside New Street station in Birmingham.

I think she got off lightly  lol

For those of us who've never seen one in action, what is a helicopter gesture? I'm imagining either you spin around on the spot with your arms out or you twirl your finger around your head like one of those hats with the propeller on top

Wasting police, courts and many other peoples times for a couple of helicopter gestures ffs.

These "fans" should pay all the court costs. People on here have become weak in how these disgusting morons are treated.

I didn’t see the phrase “hate crime” in the article, but we’re all getting a bit worried about it.  “Tragedy chanting” certainly stops short of the definition of a hate crime which is probably why it has its own punishment/ repercussion.

it feels like there is a very short list of clubs against whom this law could be used. Prestigious company?

They’re twats obviously but there’s absolutely no way that that is a criminal offence.

It’s completely objective as to whether it’s even offensive no matter what they were trying to achieve. What percentage of Leicester fans would have to be offended for it to count as a crime?

To that end, are Leicester fans and fans of specific clubs now deemed as groups of people that hate crimes can be commited against?

Video of them online, everyone thinking they’re bellends & their own club wanting nothing to do with them

Actual criminal proceedings

I’d go as far as saying that any Leicester fans genuinely offended by what they did need to take a long hard look at themselves before anything else.

Not a criminal offence but I think merits a stadium ban.

It's the sort of behaviour I seen in school from children, dont expect it from grown adults.

I think maybe some are missing the point here. It's a criminal offense because they won't want it to happen again. If they get away lightly then more fans will do that sort of thing. It being a criminal offense has little to do with how our fans are upset, but imagine if that was your dad or relative that died. You would be pissed off if someone did that to you. People who do stuff like that in stadiums usually are the type of people who will do worse outside of the stadium, usually some sort of criminal behaviour.

Next time we play Liverpool, if anyone decides to belt out "feed the scousers" them feckers will definitely be filing hate crime charges. I agree with what people are saying that brain dead morons like these Millwall scummers should just be given banning orders by clubs, shit like this shouldn't be wasting police and court time. Its a slippery slope and it could open up a can of worms where anyone could just bring out the "hate crime" line when something offends them. Do I appreciate other fans doing helicopter chants etc? No. Does it bother me enough to report it to the police and press charges against individuals? Absolutely not.

Yep, it’s a classic.

Singing “Feed the scousers” is a hate crime, but singing about Munich is ‘banter’.

Agree with this. I've had helicopter related jokes sent a few times from Forest fans in last few years and yes it's sick, and they should know better but I don't get offended by it. It says a lot about the person doing it but a lot of this seems like people wanting to find something to be offended by now.
