I can sympathise on the money aspect to be fair. Hinckley are a decent-sized team at step 5 and it’s already looking a mammoth task to be going up and sponsorship is a a very healthy level. It’s not helped by the groundsharing costs and loss of earnings around that, at least until any other facilities become available…

I suspect they probably have to give assurances of redevelopments over time, as well as instantly ripping up the 3G pitch as you said.

 

Harrogate, Bromley and Sutton have all gone up in recent years with small stadia. Same as AFC Wimbledon when they played at Kingsmeadow.

Off to see my team Grantham Town get likely relegated to Step 5 today. Such a shame after entering the season for the first time in years with optimism with a young, progressive manager and what looked a good team on paper. Unfortunately our young team was out muscled and out smarted by more experienced and streetwise teams who picked us off and the season quickly got away from us; terrible fixture list with only 4 games at home in the first 10 including Walsall Wood, Corby and Worcester (one of two wins all season!).

 

Crazy decisions made after sacking the manager with the chairman having a go and releasing decent players wasting several months mid season when we got cut adrift. Great chair, businessman but no manager!

 

The bottom of the league is so bad that even a minute upturn in form would have given us a chance, however I think we gave up a long time ago with the team comprised of loanees and dual registered players since the end of January. Not entirely convinced next season will be a bed of roses, Gresley's struggles this season are food for thought.

 

It's been a miserable 7 years since Adam Stevens left with essentially reprieves due to teams going out of business and covid cancelling seasons, relegation, two more seasons of struggle at step 4 and relegation again.

Hopefully a return to winning ways for you next season, but sometimes the slide can continue if the management behind the scenes isn't great, which seems to be the case.

Highlight of the day will likely be suckling down Carling Premier in Shooterz. Great day for some association football and a few beers.

I’ll miss the Gingerbread’s burger at your ground. Superb stuff. 
 

it’s a tough league and we (shepshed) have had a real battle to get away from the bottom sides. Hopefully you’ll come back next season.

Back to back games for Jersey bulls v Redhill this weekend and next. Both teams locked on 89 points in 1st and 2nd spot, so these two games will decide the title. Over 100 fans flying from Jersey to the away fixture in Redhill today

Went to Barwell again today, took a little while to warm to the task but once they did there was only one winner. Comfortable 3-1 and another 3 points on the board, still incredibly tight at the bottom though as Sudbury won.

 

1 from 4 to go down, just hoping Barwell can keep themselves above the dotted line.

None of the Top 8 won in the Southern Prem. 

 

Conference North/South have 3/5 title contenders. South over Easter has Dorking v Worthing & Truro v Torquay !

 

Isthmian Prem has four possible winners too 

UCL North is another good un. North West Counties is daft - Bury have 109 points and a goal difference over 100, still not won the league

Harborough’s remaining 4 games are far easier on paper than those above……most of them play each other. I fully expect HT to make the play-offs. They’ve only lost once since Boxing Day, so will be tough to beat & have an excellent record against the ‘better’ sides. We will see.

I fancy us to get a promotion spot and who knows from there.

Whatever happens is been a superb season when we kicked into gear.

Some at the club think another season in this division wouldn't be a bad thing. l was also told promotion would mean another chunk of money spent on a facility upgrade, probably more on wages & new players. The club can probably afford it, but l understand the ramifications. 

Personally l would just go for it & take whatever comes !

The profile of ending up even in the NL or NLN could be transformative for a club like Harborough.

Yep, Harborough will just go for it and see what happens. You can’t pick and choose when you get promotion. But Mitch is very level about it and knows how far we’ve come again this year.

 

And our neighbours won’t like it as they could sneer about ‘low crowds’ and ‘no atmosphere’. But the club has also grown massively off the pitch with over 800 Harborough at our last game (gate over 1000 but Halesowen travel well). Around 100 travelled away to Bedford last week and the atmosphere is as good as anywhere since that corner took on the challenge set by Mitch.

 

its a great place to be, looking forward to Saturday where again a pop up means Braybrooke Lager will be on tap.

If you live in the quiet village of Cosby on Saturday... then be prepared for some large crowds around the village. Likely around 300-400 travelling from Nuneaton. 

 

Playing in the Midland Floodlight Cup competition at the end of month at Walsall, apparently already sold over 600 tickets so far from Nuneaton, plus likely a few paying on the gate. Be our biggest away following since Gainsborough Trinity in the play off final in 2012 when we took 1k. It is incredible when a team does well fans really come out. Next year is a fantastic opportunity as we enter in the FA Vase for the first time in our history, hopefully a better record in that in than the Fa Trophy. Competition Boro really should try and go for, an chance of playing at Wembley would be fantastic.

Supposed to be a blinding day on Saturday, so heading to have a pub lunch, few bevvies and then to watch Hinckley.

 

Was planning to watch the Brighton game but that, frankly, can piss off.
