The only thing you can say about West Brom is they had the 6th highest wage bill. Players on loan like Mikey Johnstone cost a fair bit on the wages.

But that said their squad is a joke compared to Coventry and Hull and they outperformed them. Their strike Dike has also been out for ages, then came back and got injured again. So they were competitive despite having one of their best players unavailable.

As a side note, it will be interesting to see how West Brom go this season if Corberan does stay with them. They've been bogged down with big earners pro-rata to their financial position for years but they've just been able to release Nathanial Chalobah, Yann M'Vila, Adam Reach, Matt Phillips, Erik Pieters and Martin Kelly. A lot of those guys are very much the wrong side of 30 and I imagine accounted for a hefty chunk of their wage bill. On top of that they have another 9 first team players out of contract in 2025. That represents some manoeuvrability in the squad that Corberan hasn't had yet in his time in charge. Getting Dike fit would also help - looked a force of nature in his loan spell at Barnsley.

No, thanks. Thought tactically WBA were really poor in the playoffs. I think (hope) we could do better.

I agree they were poor in the playoffs - however, did you ever look at that team and the players they had in their squad? Realistically they shouldn't have been anywhere near the playoffs - he did a brilliant job getting them there with that squad.

He’d be on my shortlist for his huge overachieving performance at both WBA & Huddersfield. Behind Potter obviously but could we tempt GP?

My WBA supporting mate said this to me a few minutes ago -

‘Yes I have seen the rumours he signed a new contract and new Owner will keep him.’

Since his time at Huddersfield I have always liked him, and said before I would go for him when we next needed a manager, my only concern is that I feel his teams never seem to score as many goals as those around them.

So, basically, the talkSPORT journalists don't know anymore than the fans do?..

This was the original tweet that was being referred to by FosseHub. As they put it, "but a couple of us at @talkSPORT are hearing the name Carlos Corberan as a potential target". Unsure who/what their original source is they are hearing this from.

He needs to dress better for my money.

It’s not enough for a manager to be good at his job anymore. It’s 2024 and im afraid they do need to present themselves well on the touch line now also

Corberan ran miles around Enzo tactically this year

Lost twice. Tactically inept end to their home game.

Still keen, but not going to pretend he outfoxed Enzo.

Fair enough but his squad is worth 52 million, Enzo’s is worth 206 million.
