Popular Post moore_94 Posted 24 July 2024 Popular Post Posted 24 July 2024 If not needed for this season that would be a very good loan for him 30
Pliskin Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I’d let him go out on loan, full season playing first team football will do him some good! 4
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Sounds like a reasonable thing to do and follows in how we’ve developed Barnes and KDH.
TheGoldenGod Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Yeah loan him and we'll have Jack Clarke. Fair deal! 4

frany104 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I thought he looked class last night. He’s a rolls Royce. If he’s not going to get regular game time this season then a loan is ideal. Sunderland would be a great move for him.
Stevosevic Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Faes, Vestegard, Coady and the new lad probably all ahead of him right now.
K789 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 He'll do well there. Kids going to the absolute top of game
honeybradger Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Good loan deal for him to get consistent game time, the worry for us is that he might already be a better player than Okoli and we have spent £11mil to downgrade the squad. Hopefully Okoli is just adjusting to moving to a new team and will prove to be an important player next season.
Big_Nige Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 The perfect loan in my eyes. As good as he is, I really think a season playing at a decent sized club in the championship would bring him on even more We’re stocked with centrebacks, and there's no point keeping him around for caribao cup minutes
South Shire Fox Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Hopefully we are choosing a club that plays a nice style of football and isnt going to be scrapping to stay up to develop him properly. Alves to someone like West Brom would be a good fit as well

I'd love him to have a break out season for us. 1
CrazyKopCorner Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I'm impressed with Nelson and regular 1st team football with a superb club like Sunderland would be great for him. A deal incorporating Jack Clarke is surely the angle we should take
JimJams Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Whilst I get the idea that sending him on loan might be a decent idea for his development, I'm not particularly convinced he's not better than the majority of our current options tbh. Whether that's an overestimation of his ability or a lack of faith in the players we do have I'm not sure. But I wouldn't be too quick to sanction it if I were Cooper.
StanSP Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Decent option. Guess we're not allowed more than one Nelson at the club. Or we go Triple Nelson, in which case w keep Ben, sign Reiss and find another Nelson in the market...

Tuna Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 A 40 game season in the championship would do wonders for him.
jayfox26 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Would be a good move. If we don't loan him out this season then he either a. Doesn't play much or b. Gets thrown into premier league football when he may not be ready, and this could affect his confidence and future development. A season in the championship would be good for him, just a shame we couldn't have used him more last season. 1

Totally agree he was one of the better players on Tuesday along with Alves we have 2 very good players Alves i would keep as i would love to see him get gametime this season Ben a loan is ideal as gametime this season might be limited and Sunderland is ideal
ClaphamFox Posted 25 July 2024 Posted 25 July 2024 (edited) We have lots of central defenders; whether we have enough quality central defenders for the PL is another matter. Personally I'd prefer Nelson to stay as I can see him becoming our best centre-half in the near future and I don't really trust any of the others. Edited 25 July 2024 by ClaphamFox 1
dbtcity Posted 25 July 2024 Posted 25 July 2024 After seeing a very brief snippet of Okoli I’m a bit disappointed we’ve opted to blow 10+ m on him over giving Nelson a chance! I guess the club are thinking his development would be best served out on loan getting regular game time over a potential rotation/back up option here… granted it’s early doors with Okoli but he didn’t look all that comfortable on the ball which could end up being a massive issue in the prem! Looks like a juiced up Amartey 1
