Ross Ulbricht being pardoned is class

"The Party of Law and Order" is reviving the war on drugs... lol

Trump's gift to the Libertarian Party, which essentially endorsed him and made Ulbricht's pardon a key demand. Trump is just using pardons as political compensation.

I'm against the war on drugs (see US Imperialism), and his sentence was absurdly excessive, but let's not pretend this dude is some nerd that got caught up in some dodgy shit. Ulbricht tried to commission multiple assassinations to cover his tracks.

Straight to retrieve billions in crypto he'd stashed away no doubt.

Next I bet they'll be pardoning and releasing the bankers who caused the global financial crisis.

Oh wait.

With all the pardons and early releases imagine being a Police officer at the Capitol expected to protect Trump and Co from another riot. Hardly a morale boost for them to do a proper job of it

More fool anyone for expecting otherwise tbh.

Trump has said that murderers have not gotten jail sentences.

Any truth in this? I mean, obviously people are found not guilty and there might be suspicion hanging over them, (which I think is what's going on in his jumbled self-justifying mind), but that's not the same.

What he was saying alludes that "convicted" murderers have not received jail sentences.

I'm only really mentioning it because the US is a bizarre country and this might actually have happened.

Don’t know about the US but here, take the Nottingham case, the bloke was found guilty of murder but sentenced to hospital detention.

He was found guilty of manslaughter actually and ordered to be detained in a secure hospital (e.g Broadmoor) indefinately, likely the rest of his life.  Daily Mail level of spin there mate, but probably the sort of thing Trump was referring to.

The news from Birmingham is appalling. I would say unbelievable but unfortunately it's not. What kind of society have we made where kids getting murdered with knives seems to be a semi regular occurrence.

My bad, I realised that he was charged with murder not found guilty. The families still want that judgement appealing.

You must've watched Newsnight last night. The interview with level headed, professional police officer that came after the interview with the nutjob that is Jake Tansley who "led" the insurrection was a stark contrast.

He (Tansley) was so patronising and misogynistic and disrespectful to Victoria Derbyshire it was a painful watch.

She did well to hold it together. He is an awful (American redneck) person.

I see Trump has told Putin to stop his silly little war or get tariffed.

Putin must be quaking in his Jackboots.

I am assuming that this is also the fault of Sadiq Khan, and nothing to do with the 14 year horror show government we had to endure.

FYI not aimed at you @bovril

I think it’s sanctions rather than tariffs

He also said taxes apparently.

I imagine Putin was at least apprehensive of Trump taking charge because of his unpredictability. He’ll be delighted by this threat because it’s an absolute pile of nothing.

Trump said "tariffs". Trump's a very stupid liar indeed. We all know this. Just over half of the voting public in USA didn't care. Buckle up.
