really look at the how forest are doing etc.....yes they are doing well but I wouldnt call it remarkable or a fairytale, its really good and fair play to them

theyve spent a hell of alot on players as stated already,

i wouldnt say theyve had a real statement performance/win(ala like our at Man City) yes they won at Anfield but didnt they get battered for the most part

I'd actually seen Ipswich have matched if not surpassed what Forest spent when coming up in the summer but just on fewer players. Granted they had to as a lot of their squad was the same squad that got promoted from L1 but just shows how much is really needed when you get promoted. We can't even outspend Ipswich :(

Did he?

Hermansen £6m Faes £15m, Coady £8m, Justin £8m, Kristiansen £17m….

Is that a typo?

I think we overpayed by £15m in that case

I think most Forest fans know they're genuinely not in a title race. However I imagine most of their fans would be over the moon with top 6 given the last 30 years has been so shit for them.

Using the magic of predictions and my own brain farts, I got the following.

1. Liverpool

2. Arsenal

3. Chelsea

4. Manchester City

5. Newcastle

6. Aston Villa

7. Notts Forest

I got us staying up on 33 points, a point ahead of Everton and then a small gap to Ipswich and a bigger one to Southampton.

Staying up on a very low total. Huge goals conceded which doesn't change lol

The encouraging part is like you I struggled to give Everton any wins

There's just so much football yet to play. It's easy to look at fixture lists without any context of form/injuries etc that will apply at the actual time, and think 'where are the wins coming from'?

But did anyone expect Ipswich to beat Spurs? to beat Chelsea? For Wolves to beat Man Utd?

We haven't really had an 'unexpected' win yet. And sure maybe we won't but, but maybe it's just happening later on in the season for us.

that last day would be hell, and it's very dependent on Mads coming back asap, once again we're in the position of being a good keeper away from staying up because the defence is shit.

Staying up on 29 points is outrageous lol

Thought the reffing in the Forest/Liverpool game was interesting yesterday. Very much allowed stuff to go, stuff I thought looked like fouls to be honest.

From a neutral point of view this should be welcomed - for too long those stupid little free kicks have been given, especially so for the big 6. Yesterday I do think that reffing style suited the approach Forest wanted to take though. They're a big physical side.

The 40 points for safety days are certainly long gone

40 points is a misnomer anyhow.

17th place finishes over every single 20 team PL season:

  • High: 44pts
  • Average: 37.8pts
  • Low: 32

Required to stay up (i.e 18th place +1 point):

  • High: 43
  • Average: 35.8
  • Low: 27
