Everton's team is shit but Moyes is a good experienced manager and that makes a huge difference. I don't dislike Ruud I just feel he wasn't and isn't the right man for us right now. I think we'd have a better chance of staying up with someone like Dyche in charge. Would be terrible to watch but it's all about survival and right now it seems unlikely with Ruud.

Dyche has literally just been sacked because there was a good chance he was taking Everton down - the same Everton that are now 13 points above the relegation zone. He’s awful.

The argument that everyone around is so much better than us just seems like dooming based on very subjective measures.

'They look so much better than us.' So why are they only two points ahead?

'They've got much more fight than us.' They're ahead of us on goal difference.

You could make an argument that none, one, two or all of us, Ipswich and Wolves could end up putting a couple of results together and getting out of it. The fact nobody has yet suggests that none of us are good enough at this point in time.

Plenty of teams have looked doomed or safe at this stage only for it to go the other way.

Just seen the Liverpool Wolves highlights.

How did Konate not get sent off ?

Good job Jota wasn’t rewarded for his cheating in the end .

Nor was he sanctioned though …..

konate - that would be a crappy second yellow given he was looking at the ball the whole time. But we’ve seen them given!

I could look at the ball for a sliding tackle but if I was late, I'm late. Miss the ball, take the player out. Usual yellow in most cases.

Jota should have been sanctioned.

13 games to go

No one in the bottom 4 is capable of winning more than 3 out of 13

As i've been saying all season, someone stays up on 27/28 points this year.

Honking!

Bottom 4 have been cut off now.

Us, Wolves and Ipswich have all been terrible, and all it's going to take for one of us to pull away is stringing together a couple of wins and draws like Everton have.

Easier said than done but we are still somehow very much in this.

Not sure RVN and the team has the capacity or the courage it would be a small miracle, based on our performances to date, if they did manage it.

We're hopelessly adrift of everyone but Wolves so I assume it depends what you mean by "around us."

I think Wolves have a better squad and coach and a current points advantage.

It'll take a minor miracle for us to stay up. We threw it away taking nothing from the Palace - Fulham double header. The moment we went down right there.

No question that we are favourites to go down and the Fulham-Palace double header has left us dependent on some unexpected wins to survive.

But all of this 'woe is us, Wolves are peak Real Madrid in waiting and will win eight on the spin' nonsense is just that. The bottom four are all absolutely shit.

They don't have to be peak Real Madrid to be better than us.

They're obviously shit, we're just objectively worse.

We only need to be a goal worse than them to go down.

Some people have gotten properly weird on this forum of late.

Cheering on Wolves because they're the underdogs. Cheering on Forest because they don't play possession-based football.

Honestly, get a grip.

Untill the fat lady sings we still have a chance of staying up but it requires us to get the wins!

Games against Wolves, Southampton and Ipswich are vital for our survival hopes.

I fear it might be too late by then. If we get f**k all from our next two then we'll definitely get f**k all from the 6 after that.

It puts a huge amount of pressure on us in our games against Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton. Any fewer than 7 points from those and we're done. Even then, we'll need a couple of results elsewhere.

Bleak, but not impossible.

I'd expect us to win at least 4 of our remaining 13 given the fixtures we have left.

Pereira has won 3 out of 9 since he came to the club and that is including a very difficult run of fixtures/teams recently. Only Leicester and maybe Spurs/Man Utd can be considered proper bottom half teams out of them all. And those last two can always beat you on any given day with the players they have.

You'll stay up.

To be clear, you are ****ing garbage, your squad is crap, your defence is as meme worthy as ours, Pereira isn't a good manager and the only reason you're not down already is the bottom three are just awful.

But you'll stay up.

I think the reason why many fans say other teams 'around us' are better, is because they seem to be able to score, fight to stay within games and actually pose a threat going forward.

Anyone watching us sees us as an easy target. At least Ipswich and Wolves, for the most part, make it difficult for opposition. They have some talent within their squad that managers seem to get the best out of (Wolves have Cunha; Ipswich have Delap).

The saving grace being as much as they fight and challenge opposition, they're still getting beaten.

How we aren't cut adrift like Southampton is mad.

If you won 4 that would essentially be a carbon copy of last season, in terms of Forest getting 32 points but in reality only needing 27.

Perhaps that's another way of looking at it, you might well get to 32 points but I can't see us or Ipswich getting past 26, much like Luton last year.

On your main point though, winning 4 out of 13 when you've won 1 in 7 is a bold prediction?

Yeah from those 13 fixtures, around 8 of those teams are in the bottom half. And you also play all of the bottom three. So you're firmly in the driving seat to stay up. Ipswich aren't catching you and neither are we (sadly)

If you win four, that means ourselves and Ipswich would have to win five at least, so about 40 per cent of the remaining games. Probably closer to 50 per cent if you take out games against Liverpool and Man City for us.

Bournemouth away is a tricky one, but then Wolves have 4 home games (Fulham, Everton and West Ham, Spurs) and 3 away games (Ipswich, Southampton, Man U)

In that same time we have

Brentford H

West Ham A

Chelsea A

Man Utd H

Man City A

Newcastle H

Brighton A

Liverpool H

Given the relative ability of both Squads I'll be amazed if the gap isn't significantly wider by the time we play each other.

Liverpool have frozen season ticket prices for next season. Pretty good when you consider their success (I don't know how expensive they already are).

You need to take into account the 7 teams we played. It was the turnaround and a mirror of our difficult run at the start of the season.
