Stupid question, but can he now return for the run-in now Oxford's season is over?

Nah, loan contract is usually until the end of June

No, he's not registered.

Sounds like he's done well, no idea how Oxford overall have performed or how they shape up tactically? Is he playing in a controlled manner as a dominant Leicester side would expect? Interested to know.

I don't watch the kids as closely as some do on here.

Oxford had the 3rd lowest possession in the league this season, having to do more defending than being on the ball

Usually he was playing in a back 4, mainly as the left sided centre back

Cheers, expected for a promotion side I suppose. Think its good for us long term but he needs to be good enough on the ball if he's to start/ be in contention next season.

Considering we have spent £50mil on Vestergaard, Faes, Coady, Souttar id rather keep Nelson than task our recruitment team to spend £30mil on buying a new centreback.

not the best reply, I’m afraid. No one is suggesting spending 30m on a new player or replacement. Especially not in the championship

Doesn't matter what you are suggesting, we've seen this play out before. We've spent £21mil on Coady and Okoli in the last 2 summers despite FFP issues. £36mil if you include Souttar in the winter before that.

If we sell Nelson for £30mil the club are going to keep on trying (and likely failing) to find a good quality centre back and will spend at least that much over the remainder of what would have been Nelson's contract period.

Sure they won't spend £30mil on one centreback but it will be spread over multiple players over multiple transfer windows. Why not just avoid that by keeping Nelson?

From his few appearances for us last season and his time in the youth teams I think he will be plenty good enough on the ball to be starting for us

For me it should be a question of who is partnering him for us - he should be the one that definitely starts

Okoli next season for sure.

lol you’re not making any sense.  And what you have quoted here wasn’t anything to do with anything I have said which was simply that Nelson is not a 30m player.

The person you responded to said that Nelson should not go for £30mil.

You said Nelson is not a £30mil player.

I said id rather have Nelson than £30mil as due to our recruitment record it is going to cost more than £30mil to sign a defender of Nelson's quality if we sell him.

You said we're not going to spend £30mil on a replacement in the championship.

I clarified that while the club won't spend £30mil on a single defender next summer, they will spend that amount on defenders in the next 3 or 4 seasons that Nelson would have been here which can simply be avoided by keeping Nelson.

Hopefully that makes sense to you now.

I understood  what you were saying  in that respect, but reading back the messages as they were actually written. It comes across as you  replying to me, against things I hadn’t even said.

This sounds worryingly like somebody at the club is briefing that Nelson may have to be sold…

I've read that completely different to be honest. The mockery strikes again. Pure guess work.

It would be naive to dismiss a scenario where we can’t get what we need for players we’ve designated as a sale income (we still get rid re wages) so we have to put out feelers to see what we can bring in for Nelson.  Would also be a worse case for us as a lack of interest would bring a lower fee.

Realistically Nelson will be sold in the next couple of seasons. After promotion and a season in the Prem he’ll be the next £50+ million sale. He’s pure English mustard and will be wanted by the elite.

Mercury hasn't been a scoop for about 50 years so doubtful.

A lot of the time articles are on the back of information that’s on here first anyway, then there are examples of information that is missed. Like below when not highlighting the Maddison sale was on the previous years accounts.

“When Leicester City were last relegated, 13 first-team squad members waved goodbye to the club.

Seven of those were on free transfers and three were loans. Only three exits – those of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Timothy Castagne – generated fees”

Also given that is referring to the summer after relegation, George Hirst also left to Ipswich for a fee.

I wondered aloud on here a few months back whether there will be some surprise departures - Nelson, Fatawu, Stolarcyk, McAteer - to generate cash.  Combined, they could potentially fetch 40m with only Abdul's fee to deduct

the working assumption is mads, Bilal, VK, Okoli will all be sold. There's a possibility that each of them needs to go out on loan only in order to save wages and protect the value of the assets
