Premier League cannot take action against the club for exceeding the relevant PSR threshold

dunno how true all this is

It sounds like the PL bosses are so seething at us winning our appeal that they have allowed their emotions to override their judgment and launched a highly implausible appeal that will very likely just rack up further costs.

there is a saying that the quickest way for a wealthy person to lose some of that wealth is to buy a football club.  Not many football clubs make a profit.  I reckon we would be worth max £250m now. (And that’s gone up recently due to performances of players like mads and fats)

king power have basically written off way more than that over the period they’ve owned us.

you can’t really put a value on the uplift of their brand over the period but I wouldn’t say that just investing cash into shares in a premier league football club is ever going to be retrieved unless you get lucky (or you employ very good people who get lucky).

Agreed, But many Owners  continue to Asset strip Clubs and still get away with it.

It should be banned.

Which is why the Regulator is needed as soon as possible.

As he or she wouldn't be bullied by the big financial Clubs.

It’s this element of things I find the hardest to process. They (and the EFL) go about their business regarding PSR in a rather nasty way. It’s not a good look.

Is that true, I get the distinct feeling that OFWAT have been bullied / running scared of the Water Companies for years.

I get the feeling they most likely won't be taking it further but want to leak out snippets to keep a cloud hanging over it (and us).

Whilst also exposing their own rules as weak. It's a bizarre position they have worked themselves into. Lose/lose

It does feel like it has emotional written all over it, as after all the FFP/PSR rules in themselves arent even rational.

I think all three of Ofwat.Ofgem, and Ofcom suffer from regulatory entrapment.  But I still think an regulator would be far better than the clubs regulating themselves which is basically what the league structure is.

Must've been expensive helping the Premier League to understand their own rules. An award of costs must be appropriate but I think the burden will be spread amongst the other Premier League clubs?

Would this count towards P&SR :dunno:

anybody know when we hear about whether the club met PSR for last season?

Everton and Forest were charged with breaches mid-January last season.

In all this new manger circus, I read that we have to submit more accounts for PSR later this year or at the end of next season which were reported as being a risk to potential new suitors for the position as we may still be fined or receive a points deduction.

Is there anything in this?

Last year the EFL tried to submit a business plan on us because they suspected we were likely to breach PSR for 2021-24, but we successfully prevented them from doing so. However, they did later succeed in imposing a transfer ban on us, although this was basically just symbolic as the transfer window wasn't open at the time and we were able to start buying players again as soon as we became a PL club. We then received around £40m from Chelsea for Maresca and KDH, which will count towards last year's accounts. Nobody outside the club yet knows whether the money received from Chelsea enabled us to avoid a breach for 2021-24, but most reports suggest it will be close either way - ie, we'll either have just avoided a breach or marginally breached. If it's the former, we have nothing to worry about; if it's the latter, we could face a small points deduction.

We don’t have to submit our PSR calculation until 31 December 24. So sometime in Jan or early Feb we should know

I think the other Premier League clubs should be offered a Man City player lucky dip.

Come home Haaland :fc:

It'll be Scott Carson on a four year deal :frusty:
