Could have been comfortable.

Ended up being scrappy and just about seeing it through.

Whatever was said at half time wasn't productive. Seemed to retreat and back off them, and looked out of ideas after what was a positive first half.

Almost like telling Bournemouth 'come at us, we want to test our defence but we won't test yours'. Very frustrating but I can't say I'm not happy with the 3 points and a clean sheet.

Buonanotte was very positive. Great goal and looked like our most creative player.

Subs Cooper brought on though lol lol. Soumare, Reid and Edouard. Not what the game needed but nonetheless, they were disgusting. Edouard is an embarrassment. Seems like he really can't be arsed to be here.

Keeping Ricardo and Winks on the bench seemed to be some kind of message.

a win despite Cooper's best attempts, if we want to stay up he has to go sharpish, and take Ayew, Eduoard and BdCR with him. The game management was awful, the subs were all wrong or too late. in reality, it'll be like when we smashed Cooper's forest side, buying enough time to ensure that a new manager can't turn it around

Rubbish talk

Ayew was well respected by Palace fans who thought him reliable hardworking and valuable team member.

we’ve scored goals this season and no one has thrashed us and were hanging on 2-2 at Arsenal.

I agree Cooper was no one’s choice but I think he’ll scrape enough ugly lucky wins and draws to keep us up.

Currently we’re as good as / better than Wolves Everton Palace Ipswich and Soton……

so that is our mini league to be top off surely ?

We won and should've had a penno as well.

We're conceded loads of chances again.

This is a good result and shows what can happen when you don't play 3 CDMs.

Maybe Eduard needs time to settle but he looks way off it right now.

Fatawu needs more than 10 minutes.

Good point about not needing 3 CDMs, and those championing Wilf return to a more defensive role, should be pleased too.

Decent first half, until the goal killed all of our attacking intent, and a big win…but we didn’t deserve it. We got very lucky.

Let’s hope it’s a springboard but I’m hugely sceptical about Cooper’s in-game management.

Cooper really has a loser mentality. Home against Bournemouth. Trying to hold on to 1-0 for dear life the entire second half. Miles apart from Maresca in this regard.

I thought he was a mediocre choice, showing the club was hoping his experience was preferable to taking a chance on someone with ambition and nerve. If we stay up it will be in spite of him rather than because of him. I was overjoyed that we signed Fatawu - I thought he and Mavadidi offered real threat on both wings. Then Fatawu finds himself benched. At best Ayew is a sub rather than a starter. For me, as a fresh manager you'd continue as you left off last season (minus those who left) and then adjust as you get to know the players and you assess the first half dozen results. I think Cooper is comfortable up until kick off and then freezes when sixty minutes arrives. We'll either keep on gathering draws and the occasional win or find ourselves slowly sinking - with the 'board' making a last-minute decision to get a survival manager in.

Can I explain something mate? In all the time Iv watched football teams losing attack to try and get a result the team defending tries to stop them as we did. We should have had a penalty we didn’t we won ffs we won deal with it because this is going to be a long season for you. Either that or stick to football manager

And why would you do that with players that are dead on their feet? You have substitutions for a reason. However much you plan on defending, you still need an outlet and I rather have someone with energy in their legs.

Tbf regarding Eduard he’s the only other fit ST we have in the books at present with Daka being crocked

Ayew has been utterly shit so far, even today all he did was kill attacks.

we've not been thrashed by luck, not tactics. we're creating less than any other team in the division, we're giving up more than any team besides Ipswich, who've already played Liverpool and Man city. we should have been absolutely pumped at arsenal but for a generational performance from Hermansen.

we're not going to top that mini league come May under Cooper, we'll finish bottom two

constructive. Go on then, what has been impressive from Ayew so far?

alternatively, maybe you'd like to dispute the stats? they're from understat and are all freely available

I don’t think what the OP said was unfair ? 70 minutes v Spurs, they should’ve scored 2,3 but missed some very good opportunities. Arsenal was down to an exceptional performance from Mads. No tactics there. Today, Bournemouth, hit the post, crossbar and scored (rightly disallowed).

Fulham was a dull game but we barely tested post going 2-1 down. Palace, the tactics and subs threw us. Villa and Everton, by his own admission we didn’t start well.

If anything, what Cooper adds is still to be decided. It’s not unreasonable to say that.

1-0. There is your stat, and it’s a good one.

To be serious, Ayew was good imo, he kept the ball when we were trying to break, stopping Bournemouth from being even more relentless. He was smart, sure he is no Fatawu as a player, but Fatawu has no real smarts, no comparable level of discipline, but yes he is super exciting, he is very engaging on the pitch. I just fear this season that we will need both types.

BDCR not so much. :P

Great 3 points but that second half was a painful watch.

On another day we'd have been punished but thankfully the post, cross bar & and an offside has saved us.

Don't think Bournemouth were at their best, they'll be disappointed coming away with nothing.

But keeping things positive, that's a great 3 points.

I am beginning to really like Ayew. Once you get over the fact he isn't quick, and won't do anything 'visually spectacular' you start to appreciate he's consistently one of the better players on the pitch (albeit a low bar)

Struggle with the lack of respect shown to Ayew, as he is far from flashy and on that I agree,  but  he is a grafter and does do an important job, it just isn’t scoring or assisting.

What is the important job that Ayew is doing? Killing momentum when we get the ball by shithousing a free kick which we then just punt in the box but Bournemouth got their head to every one and started to counter?

This seems like Coopers main tactic, so in that sense he doing the job Cooper wants.

I’m a definite give copper a chance and really think the hate for him is well over the top, but that second half was a difficult watch.

Why we shrink back into our shell after more than matching teams could end up being what does us. Because the fight he has instilled into the players is obvious for anyone who is watching, barring the fans who had decided he needs the sack after two games in. A fight that has been largely lacking, in my opinion, under the tenure of our last few managers

We were desperate for a win

Now we’ve got one, let’s see what the next three games have in store.  Mentally we should be in a better place. They are winnable and at the end of the, we’ll be at 10 games in.

then we can make a proper judgement on whether we get rid of cooper at that point or after we’ve managed to somehow stay up!

That’s negative talk Doc…..but maybe accurate diagnosis with  MRI scanner.

i only mention Ayew…..as I went on their forum when we bought him  and all their comments were disappointment as he was a utility player than won fouls and would be a loss to their team.

look where they are now ?

I think he was bang average yea he got stuck in and won a load of fouls, but he can’t take a man on, always plays it safe, slow on the ball, kills attacks we should be starting Bilal which would give us more attacking threat while still being petty solid defensively.

This would give us a lot more balance and Fatawu should be used for one of facundo or bilal.

Ayew is good for the last 20/30 minutes.
