He has been out for a very long time. Got to give him a little bit of time to get up to speed.

this type of messing around at the back is not good if you’re a little rusty, it’s asking for trouble

He looks exactly like how he played in every game for us going back to Arsenal away where even Cooper knew he was a dud.

How a modern day centre back can be so scared and unable to decide what to do with the ball.  Also how can so many managers and coaches not able to do something about it.  It doesn't matter the length of the pass, it's always at the slow pace to where the player has already left.  It also didn't help that the players around him kept putting him in the situation expecting something different.  Much like Skipp every time he got the ball outside the oppositions box with his back to goal, caused more problems for us than the opposition.  The manager and players repeating the same mistakes and not playing to strengths.

It was clear in the comments on here before the match that he shouldn't be involved in any forward passes.  He had about 8 warning signs before the mess up. Ricardo sent the ball twice back instantly to allow him to mess up.  This team get undone by their own mistakes.  The manager allows them to do it.

I’d love to see the scouting reports and match footage that informed our decision to buy this goon

Can't have had any passing to do, as I have never seen anybody at any level to be so shocking at passing a football and i Used to coach under 7 team

To be fair, I’d seen him live for Atalanta and he looked decent. That said, Gasperini could probably turn some of our lot into world beaters, no idea how he did it.

Absolutely abysmal performance.

Lets the ball bounce, not that strong when tackling. Passing must be one of his worst attributes. Either gives the ball away or kills opponents with hospital passes. Terrible day for him.

Was the as a full back or centre back?

Pretty sure he was centre back. Zero chance Gasperini played someone who cant pass a ball at wing back.

You missed the bit where he completely turned his back on the back while the player was running at him. Comical.

How Faes and Okoli have amassed international minutes for their countries is absolutely beyond me.

Annoyingly I fully understand how Faes has. He has everything needed to be decent CB in how the modern game plays football. He just isn't mentally focused enough

Could it be that the crapness that infects this team is contagious?  Nelson and Jakub showing symptoms.  I bet if you parachuted Yamal into this team he'd play like Jamie Lawrence.

I’d take Jamie Lawrence over pretty much all of the current squad tbf

It's not like he was even cheap. Forest paid less for Milenkovic. Bournemouth paid as much for Huijsen. Both in the same window.

The value of the deal is an easy one to bash now and I know he is shit but you are probably plucking out 2 of the best defensive signings in recent years.

I said at the time he’s probably worth the gamble at that price and that’s probably how the club saw it, but the fact that about 90% of our signings miss have magnified this one.

The comments from Italian fans at the time were telling. We got done and no surprise - even Congerton can see through this lot.
