We need players who can press, Ndidi will likely be deployed in the advanced midfield role but El Khannouss has good pressing stats in Belgium. Ayew should be nowhere near the starting eleven but you know fine well he will be and Southampton won't be exposed as a result.

Cooper sets it up so they are sitting back, the opposition walks through the midfield with ease. It’s like his idea of defending is just mopping up wave after wave of attacks rather than attempting to stop it earlier.

Every game he keeps Ndidi on for too long.  After 60 mins he is always shattered and ambles around watching players run by.

It’s too obvious and it will never happen but if we had Facoundo Mavadidi and Fatawu on it would stretch the defenders rather than Mavadidi being doubled up on.

22/23 written all over this one

This. Prior to that game, they'd only won once all season at home. Different circumstances for this one but it has a very similar about it, needs to be a win though.

It’s ironic, on the Southampton forum they’re desperate for a long ball specialist such as Cooper, fat Sam to come in because of their suicidal tactics thus far and our fans are desperate for a passing obsessive such as Martin.

It was very telling that Southampton fans were saying that they were undone by Arsenal when Martin reverted back to their normal style of play after staring off with a low block.

Just shows the fickleness of fans these days.

Disagree with that, would say the majority just want a better manager tactically, not that it has to be the Russell Martin/Maresca type of football. Maresca has more advanced tactics than Cooper, but that style would have brought about its own issues this season as Southampton are finding out. Also think it's fair to say that the overall reaction to being 15th at this stage would have been a lot different if Maresca was still in charge.

Assuming no injuries and problems in the break I would go with below. Press them high as many have said. Assuming our Argentinan friend Facundo is out jet lagged.

                    Mads

    JJ    Faes       Okoli   VK

             Skipp   Winks

 Fatawu     Ndidi       Mavididi

                   Vardy

Jet lag? :revenge:

I spent 5 nights in Vegas and went to work the day after?

Same team apart from Fatawu for Ayew.

We just beat a team who stuffed them. Need to be confident

All Cooper needs to do is watch what we did against them last season.

But he won’t, and we will approach this game the same way as we have all the others, over cautious and let them have all of the ball.

He's already watched it remember, he's watched all our games from last season

2-1 loss written all over it. Tight and cagey for 60mins, Cooper reverts into himself and they grab a late winner.

People need to hold him to account when he leaves out Fatuwu and Ricardo when he’s “watched all our games from last season”. Fatuwu destroyed them at home.

It will be the same team, same poor tactics leading to the same mistakes, no in game management and late subs.

JJ so far out of position then watching the winger cross the ball in all afternoon.

DMs camped on the edge of our box with a nonexistent midfield and zero press or attempt to defend from the front.  Cooper setting up to be less attacking doesn’t make it more defensive by default.

Ayew to fall over and disrupt any counter we have on.  The goal will come from a single moment of excellence or passage of play that doesn’t include him.

Post match waffle and excuses.

Do you know what that sounds vaguely familiar

Do you have the lottery numbers too?

Actually think they will win this quite comfortably. Come flying out the traps and catch up with our pants down.

No, you're completely wrong there ......... our usual electric start will have these very much on the back foot ......... no doubt in my mind whatsoever our Steve will have the other blokes number .......... no doubt

Press and pace ruins these, they’re too stubborn to change either so if we do that we can easily race into a 2-0 lead we should have zero respect for these just go for blood straight away
