So you fancy a 'long weekend' with your mates (or family) to combine with a Leicester away game,  where would you go and why ? :colder:
And where would you avoid at all costs ? :nono:

Arsenal - Aston Villa - Bournemouth - Brentford - Brighton - Chelsea - Crystal Palace - Everton - Fulham - Ipswich - Liverpool - Manchester (United) (City) - Newcastle - Nottingham - Southampton - Tottenham - West Ham - Wolves.

I always fancy Bournemouth or Brighton (but not in bad weather)  -  Never fancy Nottingham  :(

There are not to many bad ones tbf.

Personally my favourites are Liverpool/Everton as I can turn it into a Beatles day out or any London is always good (though I tend to avoid West Ham now because I cba with their new ground). But I have enjoyed stopovers at both Brighton and Southampton before, either Manchester club, Newcastle.

Nottingham is to close to combine with a stay over for me personally but the City itself is great and usually guaranteed a decent pub.

Aston Villa is my favourite ground to go to but I've never stayed over in Birmingham after football.

Look forward to Fulham/chelsea the most....decent boozers.......not really got one i don't like....suppose west ham because of the ground and what it once was as an away day.Edit to say as @CosbehFox says Newcastle is great to but i'm a bit biased as i live up this way now!

Slightly off topic....only slightly.   My favourite away days were when we were in league one.  Getting on for the last chance to visit old style grounds with terracing. Very few remain these days.   The standout ones I did were layer road (Colchester),  Edgar Street (Hereford), millmoor (Rotherham ).  Proper old tin roof grounds with turnstiles not designed for anyone with more than a 26inch waist.

Modern stadiums are much of a muchness these days.  Much better view and facilities but not so much character .  That said I liked Stamford Bridge.  It's strange to see a football ground in such a wealthy nice area.

Worst: Going to Charlton Athletic when their Valley Ground was under reconstruction . Making our way past a row of partially demolished terraced houses teetering on a large drop

Ha ha sounds fun.  I didn't do that one,  just as well by sound of it.

Talking of London games, i did Leyton orient that season too and remember we outnumbered the home fans.  If i recall they were shifted from their usual stand so that there was room for us all.  Obviously after bumper gate receipts .

Weird ground that.   Fairly modern but there were apartments in the corners of the ground overlooking the pitch.

Nottingham is a great city for a drink so long as they let you in.

Any London away is usually decent, but Bournemouth is cracking for a weekend.

Wolves comfortably the worst on that list.

I generally think though if you want to have a decent away enough you'll always manage it. Ipswich, for example, is somewhere I've never enjoyed previously... but last season it was a belter (regardless of the last minute goal).

Will add by mentioning Stoke, for any league away day sake.

I'll take your word for it.  I've been there anyway before they moved.

We drew 1-1.

Notts in the top 2/3 for pubs/ location but I’m scarred by nearly every trip to that place being sheer hell.

I love going to Camden Town when playing either Arsenal or Tottenham. Such a vibrant place and the best away day chip shop. Also love Brighton away for similar reasons. Bournemouth on a decent weather day too.
The worst is Wolves. Such a depressing place. Also, not Premier League, but Blackburn last season on a rainy Sunday was horrific. The ground isn’t actually in the centre, but everywhere was boarded up and the whole vibe of the place was oppressive.

Rotherham weren’t in League 1 at the same time as City

Played them away in the football league trophy that season

We drew 1-1.

02/03 season. A win would have secured promotion that day. Benjamin equalised for us.

That was at the Don Valley though.

I’m based in Hammersmith so I might be cheating by saying Fulham :D that being said, I haven’t been to a Fulham vs Leicester game yet.

I have done Brighton three times and the first one was a weekender with the lads which was comical - such a good weekend. I’d recommend doing it.

Selhurst Park is comical. I was there when we won 2-0 during that 8 game winning streak in late 2019 (weeks before the Brighton game I just mentioned), but I was standing diagonally behind one of those poles so I missed the second goal. Demarai Gray blended in perfectly and I couldn’t see him - looked like the post did a 1-2 with Vardy then tapped it in.

Seeing as I am on the train and I have forgotten my headphones. My verdict to all

Arsenal - Best London trip of them given it's the most accessible ground and easy to reach some of the best boozing areas of London.

Aston Villa - Utter tip around the ground but a good day out in Birmingham (I work there - so less of an attraction for me)

Bournemouth - Great for a weekend away. Ground is located in a very naff Boscombe - so it's not the best day out trip.

Brentford - Best of the western London trips for me. Chiswick, drink on the Thames etc.

Brighton - A cracking weekender. You could go to a number of places in Sussex. Wouldn't do it in a day anymore given its out of city location

Chelsea - Decent enough but a desert for decent pubs

Crystal Palace - Think it gets a bad rep and you can have a real good day.

Everton - Both Liverpool grounds are a pain in how far away from the city they are but enjoying visiting. Considering a weekender for this one.

Liverpool - See above. Everton is better on grounds of no tourism. Does score higher now you can actually see the pitch from the away end.

Fulham - It's lovely day and ground but I am yet to be convinced that it's a great away day.

Ipswich - Haven't been in a long time, looking forward to November 2nd.

Manchester City - Better of the Manchester grounds given closer proximity to the city. Enjoy visiting Manchester

Manchester United - Saving grace is the city its nearby cos everything else about it is pants.

Newcastle - A king of away days. Spent two weekends there staying in Tynemouth with family. Beautiful coastline

Nottingham - Would be a contender if you could actually get in a pub.

Southampton - Totally naff. Have considered a weekend down there in the New Forest but as a city, it is terrible.

Tottenham - Worst of the London trips. Worse than Palace to get to and from. Amazing stadium but there's bot much pleasant around it.

West Ham - Ahhh maybe Spurs isn't the worst! Actually don't mind a trip to West Ham in terms of pubs - Hackney Wick, Bethnal Green etc but worst stadium in the league.

Wolves - Terrible day out. Most unwelcoming place to visit by far.
