It’s not the first time this season when we’ve only started to perform once Cooper has been forced to abandon the plan he approached the game with. There’s a clear pattern.

I think it is rather concerning. However the fighting spirit the team have is something that may keep us up, rather than the tactical nause of the manager.

We definitely had some help from the ref today, but we've had some shocking decisions go against us this season so I don't have too much sympathy for them.

Did you miss the Flynn Downs not getting a 2nd yellow

Steve Cooper Post Match

Cooper on game

"We defended really poorly on the two goals. That’s on us in going 2-0 down. Although we got into decent areas, we didn’t play calmly enough at the top end of the pitch so we didn’t maximise the opportunities that we did give ourselves to play. I felt we should have scored off a couple of set plays, we hit the bar, and I really felt we were still in the game. It’s that classic of getting one and seeing what happened.

“At half-time was about addressing one or two things, but not loads, and making sure the guys stuck together, believed in the work, believed in themselves and each other, and improved at the top end. We did all of those things. I don’t want to sound like a smart-a*** by saying that I felt we were still in the game, but I genuinely did. I can see the players feeling that as well. But it was about going to do it, and fair play to them, they were brilliant.”

Fatawu's impact?

“He’s a really exciting young player. He did brilliantly for the club last year. And he’s going to quickly become an exciting Premier League player as well. We’re just in that little transition with him understanding how to develop his game, playing with a bit more variety. When he comes on and plays like he did today and takes opportunities, he’s showing the player that he will be in the Premier League. Kudos to him."

Comeback?

“What a sign of togetherness. You saw subs in the game, the impact that all of the subs had, players who haven’t even come on the pitch celebrating the win like they’ve played 90 minutes. We need that. I see that every day, the way they train, the way they push each other, they way they are together. God, that really came out in abundance in the second half, as well as playing the way we did.

“Hopefully, in a successful season, this day can be memorable for the supporters. Through good and bad moments, I always have respect for them, the money they spend, the travel, the commitment, the emotions, the opinions. It’s really good to see that at the end of the game and how they got behind the team. They really do, to be fair, home and away. I’m really pleased we gave that back to them.”

Was the corner a training ground move?

“(Set-piece coach) Andrew Hughes will say so! I felt we should have scored off a couple of set-plays in the first half. We missed some good chances. But I think that it was instinctive decision-making and it’s one that we’re really grateful for.”

Fans chanting 'We are staying up!' at the end?

“I really believe in the team. Myself and the staff, we really enjoy being here and feel we’re part of something great. It’s a Premier League club in every way. Unfortunately they came out and now we come back in. We’ve got to become an established Premier League team again, and we’re just in that process. Everything else is Premier League through and through, even the history. We believe in what we’re doing and we’re on the right path. There’ll be ups and downs, and I find it easier to work in the downs because that’s when you stay on task and believe in your work. We believe we can have a successful season. But, it’s game by game, we can’t get too high or too low, and we have to keep pushing each other.”

Honestly one of the most exciting Leicester matches for quite some time, and to be fair cooper got alot right today.

Love it when your on the right side of these games, from despair to absolute joy. I'll take that over the possession at all costs anyday

@moore_94 you're not wrong, fair play. That's got to be the attacking lineup moving forward.

Fatawu got a lot of the plaudits and rightly so but worth also pointing out Winks significantly upped the tempo of the game and got us ticking also.

I'm glad that Cooper appears to have stumbled onto this, but it really should've been the selection from the beginning of the season.

With Ayew coming on late in the game to hold onto the ball, win free kicks..... and fire in winners!lol

One thing I do appreciate is having a bunch of lads who fight again, after the 2022/23 fiasco. The Southampton game that season, we turned up, put in 50% effort thinking we’d smash them. These lads work for it and give 100% and if they’re doing that, we’ll be fine.

Spot on. We came back against Spurs in the opening game and at half time I still thought we could get something out of this. I’ve seen many City teams that would have given up.
Cooper has his faults but his players do have a never say die attitude.

Sat behind him at Filbert Street against Bradford in 1998. ****ing love that he's still going.

It took nearly 45 mins to drive through the centre of King's Lynn at 3pm and that was more enjoyable than listening to the first half.

Then I got on the A47 and everything was easy breezy from then on. lol

How the F- did that set piece work in the 98th minute? The outcry if they’d have tried that and it not come off.

Listened on the radio. Can see why Southampton would be pissed off at the ref to be fair. You couldn’t not give the penalty and the red though, no matter what had gone before.

If we can only sort out the first halves.

It's mad that Leicester and Southampton have Roy Cropper and Rishi Sunak as fans.

One of us is being supported by a character known to the country as a bumbling, weak and ineffectual man who isn't taken seriously by anyone, and the other is supported by Roy Cropper.
