The mission this season is to stay up. It doesn’t matter if it’s by 1 goal on points difference, or if we coast in to 11th or 12th. We stay up, we build, we can attract better players and more importantly better managers. If we go down we probably get a points deduction and it could be a long way back. It does not matter how we play, what decisions the coach makes etc, we just need to be winning games. We’re almost a third to the points that we’ll need to stay up. My god cooper is frustrating, but we’re doing what we need to do. So unless the situation deteriorates, then he gets full backing for the time being. Today was an excellent win, any away win is excellent in our situation.

It’s a huge win there’s no doubt about that. But there were still elements to be concerned about. 
 

Still he can’t get the balance of the squad right, and there were definitely some fortunate situations that aided the victory today, not that I want to take anything away from the lads hard work to get back into the game, but the red card and penalty definitely help swing the game massively in our favour. 
 

The first half was absolutely dreadful, I thought the midfield instantly improved when Winks came on, even if he is playing poorly, he still has class and quality about him, and you notice little things are missing when he isn’t in the squad. 
 

Second half started marginally better, and by the the margin was the size of a fleas testicle, but it didn’t really alter massively until Fatawu came on, and then the red penalty and red card changed the game completely. 
 

We took advantage of the situation which is to be applauded, but we should have, considering how poor Southampton are. 
 

What was concern no is that when Southampton had 11 on the pitch, they largely dominated us, and we looked just as clueless as always, and there appeared to be no real plan from Coopr until the tide changed and the man advantage gave us a natural edge.

 

Im suggesting the win was more down to the circumstances of the game change, rather than Coopers brilliance. 
 

For me, he still isn’t the right man for the job, even after this.

The lad wasn’t getting anywhere near the ball when Ayew pulled his shirt. The commentator was making way more of this than it was. Shirt tugging only really gets picked up on when it directly impacts on a player on the ball or ready to make contact. If that’s given as a penalty then you’d get 5 given every match. The Fraser one was different as it very clearly denied Vardy a goal scoring opportunity. Clear penalty and a very clear red for Fraser.

One thing I do appreciate is having a bunch of lads who fight again, after the 2022/23 fiasco. The Southampton game that season, we turned up, put in 50% effort thinking we’d smash them. These lads work for it and give 100% and if they’re doing that, we’ll be fine.
