Let's face it the Leicester job isn't that attractive and can see why Potter and Moyes have said no. We had to take the best on offer with Cooper. I know everyone wants an appointment asap but we need to get this right otherwise it's certain relegation. Whoever we get will be a gamble. I really think we won't have much to choose from.

The media reports have suggested that we weren't interested in Potter or Moyes, not the other way around. Apparently we didn't contact either of them this time around.

Whats cut off before being realistically involved for brentford? Im assuming they wont at this point?

I don't really have an issue with that.

Players have been training with Dawson all week, may as well let them crack on with whatever the plan is.

Lets be honest that game could be 7-7 given the way both teams have been this season!

West Ham significantly more important at this point.

To be fair it was the club that announced they wanted somebody in by Friday

Funny how both Percy and Nixon (I know) both said we did though.

Can you point to where John Percy has stated we've approached Potter or Moyes to replace Cooper? All I can find is an article stating that Potter would be 'likely contender', not that we've contacted him.

I'm not going to pay money to view Alan Nixon's pateron account, but has he actually stated that we've approached Potter or Moyes about the current vacancy rather that merely speculating that we might approach them? Not that I'd necessarily trust Nixon as he spouts a huge amount of bullshit, but I'm still interested to know the source for your belief that we've actually been in contact with either of these two candidates...

Don't understand why we are looking at RVN. Dont understand the general obsession with appointing former high profile players as managers when they have little to no experience. Ie Cov binning off Robins for Lampard. Surely in the position we're in we need to be looking at someone with experience? The whole thing makes no sense at all.

Corberan would surely be a good bet instead!!

Experience like Cooper or Smith?Sometime's experience doesn’t get the job done.

Look at Alonso and Enzo. If the fit is right then who’s to say they won’t be successful managers? I like the idea of RVN coming in. If rumours are true about him not worried about making big calls then I’m all for it.

In our position, the only 'experienced' managers likely to take the job are those whose stock has fallen because they've failed at jobs or have nothing left to prove. There's nothing necessarily wrong with going down that route, but it does of course carry clear risks.

Appointing an up and coming manager with less experience is a different kind of risk. You're effectively betting that they're on an upward trajectory and will lift you up with them in the short period they're with you. This paid off for us when we recruited Enzo. Bayer Leverkeusen have benefited massively from taking a punt on Xabi Alonso. Arsenal are probably pleased that they took a chance on Arteta. Etc, etc. On the other hand, the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Solskjaer have fared less well.

So two different types of risk. On balance, I'd prefer we go down the second route as I think we need somebody who can galvanize us in a way that an experienced journeyman would probably struggle to do. I accept others may view it differently.

Just looked at Oddschecker on the next Leicester Manager and the only one being backed other than Ruud is Lee Carsley.

I had an awful dizzy feeling then that Carsley would get chosen, then walk into a press conference and tear off his facemask to reveal in Jim Carrey style he's Steve Cooper in disguise and we've all been duped!

What do you know?

Am thinking that Top might be changing his mind and might be in for Carsley, due to his England reputation.

It seems a bit quiet regarding Ruud now.

Surely that would happen to any manager/player. Pleat was constantly abused and so were many players.

Yes, it would but anyone coming across the East Midlands is exposed to an additional line of abuse.

So basically at the minute we will be interviewing people. Why would we not speak to a few different people, clearly nobody has the slightest clue what is happening at the minute.

The Dutch league is more like the Portuguese league than the spl - just wanted to put that out there.

for the record, rvn would not be my first choice, but not my last either. Somewhere in the middle.
