I'm at the point if he went into next season i'd have no choice but to wipe the slate clean and judge him as if it was day 1, for me RVN is an issue but nowhere near the main threat to this club. With the squad we will likely be left with we can still get promoted whether its RVN, Rohl or Dyche, the question becomes can he really stamp his standards and authority with a full summer window and pre season, can he get rid of the dead wood and overpaid grifters.

I'd snap your hand off now if you gave me the choice of starting the season with Ruud and getting a better DOF in.
If Ruud goes tomorrow, it won't make a shred of difference if we have Rudkin giving over the hill players 90k a week in the championship again.

The key thing is really whoever is our next manager, if they do get us promoted they’ll have a lot of the dross off the books by then due to contracts ending. Who do we want to have that responsibility of rebuilding? Dyche would maybe keep us up but would sign some short term players, anyone else I’m not too sure what they’d do

Ahhh yes like Vestergaard. Let's not count our chickens until the dross has left the building without being given an insane extension

That one is directly on Maresca. He has every bit a bad eye for a player as everyone else since Puel but got away with it due to being at a lower level and getting a couple of gems to offset it. Winks, Coady, Vestergaard and Ndidi re-signed. He still played Faes which is criminal in itself.

Completely and totally agree.

Recruitment over the last 6 years - especially since Rodgers arrived with Congleton - has been mostly appalling. Even the signings that were a success for a while became a millstone around our neck because of the absurd wages. But again, that is what it took to compete at the time, and was a successful strategy under the previous rules.

What’s happened in the last 3 years is a combination of two major factors.

1. Terrible recruitment in terms of players and their contracts (wages/length), both in successful times pre-COVID and awful times afterwards

and

2. Appallingly written rule changes that made our previously successful strategy our biggest weakness; by a demonstrably corrupt league that not only doesn’t hold other clubs to the same standard, that STILL hasn’t punished the Super League clubs for a far, far greater crime, that has repeatedly broken their own rules while failing abjectly to prove we broke any of theirs.

Everyone on here is rightly angry about the former. So am I.

But it baffles me that people seem so reticent about the latter. For me it’s the biggest cause of where we are now and it’s not even close.

People should be ****ing incandescent about it.

A great reply to be fair.

Whilst I agree with most and understand the sentiment of where mine (all LCFC) fans anger should be aimed at.

My only issue is that PSR has been in play for a few years now and we’ve shown zero signs of pivoting to comply to the rules.

Without bleating on, re-signing Jannik, signing Reid, Ayew, Winks and Coady all on above PL average wages highlights this. Hence the anger directed at Rudkin/Top.

Is it wrong that I hope Wolves thrash us so we can not give this plonker any more game time in charge.

No, I'm praying for it...and it bloody hurts.

If PSR is an issue in making a decision on RVN and the Club is stalling / playing for time( until 30-Jun) it wouldn’t surprise me if the owners maintain a wall of silence until the end of the season.

Probably only humiliating losses to Ipswich and / or Southampton would force them to announce a decision before.

He’ll be here until the end of the season. You’d have thought (hope) that the wheels are in motion, to get his replacement in and the plan is also in motion to target recruitment in line with the new guys thoughts, for a speedy announcement and transition in line with whatever is financially viable, at the right time for the club’s finances.

Please be the case!!!!

No Source, just a sense of doom with regards to our ownership & club running.

I've renewed my ST in the hope we'll get an exciting manager who likes to play attacking football. The though of RVN still being here next season makes me feel physically sick.

Can deal with tricky situations e.g. Winks.

I'm not convinced by this. If he wasn't going to play him anyway then maybe he's done the right thing. But we've got an expensive PL player doing FA and probably affecting the rest of the team judging from his popularity shown when Cooper was sacked.

Surely dealing with it is to resolve it.

I backed Winks previously about the situation about not staying in hotels, but I think he's been exposed for what he truly is, especially with missing the game we got relegated. Against club policy to turn up to all games. Even Wesley Fofana did that when he wanted out, I remember it was a night game.

I'd back Van Nistelrooy on it. Freezing him out and keeping him training with the kids is the right course.

Well we don't now the facts or the impact of having a baby is having on him and his wife all I see is a player who is costing us not being used whilst we're sinking.

The fact he's still in charge says it all about how Top is running the clown show off the pitch, utterly incompetent.

Partly to blame for Vardy leaving.

if we hadn’t been so atrocious under him and been in with a chance of staying up. Finances would’ve allowed it

The January transfer window was crucial Ruud was promised allegedly the players to improve the first team that was the narrative but was clearly a lie.., not at all condoning Ruud's management and it has been abysmal beyond belief, but he has definitely had one hand tied behind his back.

Him still being in charge means:

  • Club is undecided on next season
  • Club is decided on him not being here next season but he may as well stick around to be the fall guy
  • It's cheaper to sack him at a later date

Point being, we don't know.

Only outcome that actually matters, in terms of it being bad or not, is if he's part of the plan for next season - which would be a huge mistake.

Got a right back he wanted after speaking to enzo didn’t use him.

Probably just as well he didn’t get players otherwise we would be left with more castoffs

Ruud boy will be gone soon

just hope we actually get an appointment right

and back them adequately

Not if the same Clown is director of football. You could get the best manager in the world and we would still be shit with that utterly inept clueless ****tard running football operations

Interesting to hear Ruud talk on multiple occasions about alignment, implying that currently there isn't an alignment at the club, I can only guess that is alignment on vision, transfers and style of play, something that regardless of Ruud in or out we have all known for a while now, we have signed the wrong players for each system under multiple managers, as well as going rogue from that system in Summer, multiple lies told to multiple managers.

Ruud is atleast subtly publically saying what others have avoided.

I think he may just mean that he wants to sit down and clarify his future with the club, but they’re avoiding doing so - possibly because the decision on RVN’s future will ultimately lie with somebody outside of the current set-up.

Yeah, I get the impression that he's told them that the place is a disaster and then told them how he would change it, if he's allowed to stay on.  Basically putting it out there that he thinks he's up to the job, but if he's staying, he wants a far greater say in what goes on.

This strategy goes someway to restoring his reputation.  In the highly unlikely event they keep him on, he gets a clean sheet of paper to rebuild "his way", or they sack him and he walks away, compensation in hand, saying that he was lied to about transfer funds, they weren't on board with his vision, he was hampered by an inadequate squad and the direction he wanted to take the club wasn't backed (all of which has some truth to it).

Anyone else thinking he's here next season and the Vardy decision compounds that.

Who better to attract a new striker to the club?

Given some of the names touted on here. If I could be sure we get someone decent, but we really can’t.
