You already get the sense a few of the players would run through a brick wall for Ruud.

I thought it wasn't perfect but a massive improvement.

 

The defence just about held it together. Stayed as a unit and got protected by the players in front. The transition to quick attacks needs a lot of work but it's what we've been wanting and with players like Bilal and Facundu who have that ability to unlock a defense, we have a chance. 

 

Lock it up at the back and take our chances when we get them from counters is solid gameplan to start with.

Yeah mildly chaotic, but the only thing Ruud could have wished for in 48 hours is desire. The patterns, the plan, the quality will come with coaching.

West Ham looked well up for that, they’ll be gutted. A Cooper team would have absolutely crumbled under that amount of pressure. 
 

Disappointed by the negativity in the match thread.

Great to see the players respond to the manager, but also the manager be proactive. Half time change to 4-4-2, players approaching the game with confidence and with the right attitude. 

 

All players not shy in their physicality. 

 

If Soumare can replicate this performance on a consistent basis I'll change my mind on him! Looked very calm and composed and comfortable.

Brilliant result aside, was refreshing to see everyone run their arse off and throw everything into tackles, 50/50s etc

Bonkers game of football and could've been any scoreline but so nice to see us playing with positive intent. Gutted we didn't keep a much needed clean sheet but that's being picky.

It's going to take a while to sort this mess out but there's some big positives today.

 

Players scrapping for everything.

Played some good stuff going forward.

Attacking intent when winning. 

Daka didn't look like some sort of competition winner.

Yes, still work to do on the performance as a whole but some really promising signs.

 

Thought a fair few had their best matches of the season, mainly Coady, Soumare and Kristiansen.

The change in defensive shape in the second half helped us improve massively. You could clearly see the 442 he mentioned in action. In the first half that wasn't there and we were struggling.
