might be against consensus but I actually think mcateer was vital to that win. His energy stretched the pitch and pulled their defenders all over. His output wasn’t up to scratch but he’s been out the side all season so that’s basically a pre-season run out for him.

if we’re going to have buonnanotte and Bilal you need a keen runner ala marc albrighton.

ITA, thought he was very effective.

I think the shot stat is skewed by WH largely being sh1te and playing almost desperately at times. We actually registered 2 more big chances (7) than West Ham and i felt we always looked better when attacking. It was like watching a completely different side play vs Cooperball era.

Our defence wasn't perfect, but i felt much more relaxed watching us defensively yesterday than i have all season. You could clearly see some early work had gone into it, and i'm hopeful there is much more work to be done.

If that relaxed you, I'll have what you're having. lol

Yeah, 31 shots from WHU is not the same as 31 from Liverpool. But I still think defensively we looked extremely shaky (largely thanks to the midfield). Mads had to make several excellent saves. Work in progress, just the first match. As far as the other way it's pretty straightforward - quick, counterattacking football. It almost looked like the Claudio title year at times going in that direction.

The subs had me worried but, by and large, they were made appropriately.

If you need to take off Vesty and your only option is Faes then that's what you do. But I hope being on the bench gives Faes some food for thought.

Faes still went walkabout into midfield. The whole strength of the performance was at least attempting proper defending. Not sure even Ruud can coach this out of him. We were clearly better without him.

I said more relaxed :) . I felt there was more composure there and it felt better organised, especially down the right which has been our issue all season so some work had clearly gone into it.  Any PL team should have lots of chances, so even the best organised defence will feel like it has moments where its a scare.

Just watched the clubs extended highlights reel. Didn't even show the Bobby Reid offside goal or West Ham non-goal which was the match turning point. Don't know who edits these but really needs to do better.

Yep terrible. Thought the main commentator was having a stroke right at the start too. His sentences really delayed and bizarre.

He's an Ipswich fan and you can detect the disappointment when we score or his excitement when the opposition are on the attack.

The people calling out Soumare for lack of effort/laziness today are just being funnily enough... Lazy with their criticisms.

He put in an absolute shift in today. He holds the ball up well under pressure as well rarely just hoofing a ball and hoping for the best, this may result in the odd backwards pass, but I'd rather that than a kick in to nowhere where we end up getting countered on

Has anyone called him lazy for last night?

Can one of our newly appointed trust lobbyists bring up the fact that a third of these are the walkout? Bizarre editing

We need a top class defensive coach at the club. It's worries me that all our defenders switch off at critical moments. Defending as a unit, irrespective of personnel, will probably be enough for us to survive this season. A box to box combative midfielder, in the Lennon mould, would be my January priority.

Just need to sort out defense out.....better teams with strikers would have scored....bring back Soutter in January

He’s triggered an appearance clause that keeps him loaned for the season

31 shots from West Ham, yikes.

Only ten on target, just four more than us. We also had more ‘big chances’ whatever that stat means.

Essentially we gave ourselves better goal scoring opportunities and took them.

Ruud mentioned counter attack several times in a few interviews.

If we can concede less and score on the break I’d be more than happy to have the ball less and concede shots that mostly don’t hit the target.

Thought Kristiansson had his best game for a long time last night. More solid defensively (not perfect, however) and was a good outlet and got forward well (and an assist, I suppose).

He got the ball, got surrounded by the big bad fast and very strong opposition in numbers and everytime i thought: thats him done, he went tik, tok passed the guy closest

to the line and passed him. In the 2nd half this started a left wing attack several times. My jaw dropped in awe.

Then he also seems to have debruyne telescopic legs  eyes and vision and made several just impossible angled passes, inches from the opposition defender, 40, 50 yards ass just on a platter for the incoming Leicester striker.

Fearless, strong, good in tight spaces, fast, killer passing and vision.

That left back (Kristiaansen is his name?) he is going to make a big difference for you guys this season.

That 'needless' yellow from Vardy in the first half, that was needed as it unsettled that big West Ham player ftom harrassing that great left back the rest of the game too much.He even got him a yellow too later on.

No this was an awesome game, nice teamwork and plenty to be upbeat for as a foxfan if you ask me.

When was the last time we had that much in the Premier League (or, as the yanks incorrectly say, premeeeeeeeeer league)

It’s our second highest of the season after Saints away.
