Liked the proactive sub. Although vesty actually was playing pretty well, getting blocks and tackles in etc, saw that he and coady were getting done for pace so put Faes in. We obviously need to replace the latter with a better quality back with pace but until then Ruud used what we have well.

I was listening to Talk Sport on the way home and everybody was banging on about how they had 31 shots. Drove me mad. I would say we had more clear cut chances than them.

Don't get me wrong, still a lot to do with our shape but it was a breath of fresh air that we had a game plan and everybody knew what role they were playing (apart from Faes of course)

Second half he was good but come on, he and Ndidi in the first half were absolutely pants.

Each to their own opinion but I actually didn't think Soumare did much wrong in the first half. The issue was most our play was coming out of the right hand side where as soon as Justin recieved the ball he was being pressed by sometimes two players and had no passing options because Mcateer was standing right on his full back and Ndidi wasn't showing for the pass.

Equally I remember a couple of times in the first half where Soumare turned well out of space but all the attacking runs were poor resulting in him going backwards. I'll concede his pass to FB on the last counter was poor though

In other news, enjoyed the Amazon coverage tonight. Tyldesley and Townsend were decent on comms, and the combination of Emile and Kevin Nolan as summarisers was really good, IMHO.

Basic stuff for fans of the club, but nods to our history like Vardy being 3rd behind Chandler and Rowley makes a difference. Interesting for neutrals.

Thought the ref had a very good game-credit where credit is due

Agreed. He let a lot go but it felt like he was consistent for both teams

As RVN said, when we won the ball we looked right away for the forward runs centre, left and right. No sideways, no backwards nonsense that puts more pressure and leads to nothing. This was the big tactical and mental difference compared to Cooper's consistent panic ball.

RVN hinted post match other major tactical changes and my understanding is that he will try to make the D more compact. Today we used some diamond structure and plays when going forward. I wouldn't rule out a switch to a proper low block while defending and a Vardy/Daka duo on top with both switching sides and one of them dropping back to make plays with Buonanotte.

Agree that the big takeaway from the interview after the game was him wanting to see the ball moving forward more quickly. But I think this is far more a legacy of Maresca than Cooper. I think you can see certain players still playing the way Maresca wanted to and it was never going to work in PL with this squad. Cooper was too much of a departure the other way, hopefully Ruud is somewhere in between

Officially big clear chances were 7-3 to us. Shots on target 6-10.

TalkSport probably want Cooper back. I'd rather read all night tactical analysis posts here at FoxesTalk. There's more knowledge here by fans.

Something I really liked was he has them well drilled. For goal kicks

A clear 4132 liked up, everyone had there instructions and did it every time.

I honestly could not have given you one of Coopers teams shapes for oppos goal kicks. Refreshing.

As others have said we rode our luck but how nice was it to be out of your seat multiple times in a game even though it wasnt a goal? Just yes please more of that.

Thought we had it bad, not a single one of those players wants to play for that manager lol.

Fitness coach had to go and have a go at the subs for not warming up and then the second he left they just stopped lol

Went through the tactics and player ratings here. I was very impressed with RVN, he tried to shore up the fullbacks and started El Khannouss and McAteer for their work rate to do that. It worked! Shows you that a MANAGER and not a PE Teacher would recognise the obvious problems the team had and would try to do something to fix those issues. Changing BEK to the 10, moving McAteer to left wing and Facundo to right wing in the second half was also a master stroke.

If Top backs Ruud in the transfer window, I think we stay up.

West Ham did have a crazy number of shots, and on another day could have won the game. But our manager had 2 training sessions and already implemented a clear defensive structure and a far more compact 442 rest defence, whilst maintaining a threat on transition throughout the game.

LEICESTER CITY ARE BACK!!!

look forward to your indepth breakdown of Ruuds tactics etc, for me it looked night and day in certain areas

good win tonight, of course they had chances but for me though we looked alot calmer at the back,

Vesty putting some good splitting passes etc, bilal and Facu playing well too, i honestly cant fault any of them tonight,

felt alot more organised, we pressed well, and in a way felt like the shackles were off for some too

its encouraging signs tho

The shots and xG (of which I’m a fan) lack context here don’t they? West Ham go far more attacking than they normally would with the goal so early. Largely as a result proves their downfall as they get caught up far too high up the pitch twice.

If we conceded that much but we went 1 up after 40 mins, yeah I think it has more significance

Ruud has achieved in two days what Cooper couldn't do in 15 games. Gave us some identity and the players playing as a team. Ive not seen us make so many passes in a game this season until now . Was counting 15 and above in a continuous move at one point.

Simply, we are dogshit at defending but if you actually use your attacking players in the way they can flourish, we might outscore teams.

Props to both full backs tonight - really shown up well in their individual battles. Kristansen in particular

Nolan was really balanced about this. Said we had more clear cut chances too as much as they went on about the 30 odd shots. There was some scary moments but a lot of their shots weren't great.

It's not gonna look good for our overall stats though. Under Cooper we took more shots than 50 cent.

Rode our luck massively.
But I liked his positive subs he made as though he backed them to make an impact.
Cooper leaves Vardy on until injury time in that game. Ruud backs Daka and that’s what the majority of the squad need a manager that will back them.

RVN knows there are at least another 12 teams in PL with major issues in defense including his former team. He knows he needs to take advantage of this and the only way is direct forward football to exploit it with better runs and support upfront. I reckon he knows also some of our problems at the back are unfixable with these players.

Ruud gives a great interview.

I love that he acknowledged it wasn't perfect but that the first step is just getting spirit and confidence and that's enough for now.

The massive difference was how constantly good we looked on the attack and always made them think about that. Yes we were shit defensively again but we probably have to expect that until January.

Under Cooper we would have possibly gone 1-0 up and then just sat in for 80 minutes and lost 1-3

We aren't going to go and sign Van Dijk in January either so it might be a case of sucking up performances like this all season.
