Meet Jamie Vardy/Photo

Interested to gauge others opinion on this if possible. The club have pissed me off more than usual tonight, there's every chance I'm being unreasonable.

There was a ballot for a certain amount of people to meet Vardy on Thursday to have their photo with him. Doesn't interest me but both of my boys were well up for it. Entered the ballot and one of them got chosen - the other didn't.  Had to put my name down too as a guardian so there's two tickets (I won't be going in any of the photos).

I emailed the club asking if my other son could take my place as I'm not interested in being in a photo. He will have to be with me anyway as I'll be picking him up on the way.

There have been about 10 emails back and forth and they completely refuse to budge, they are only allowed a certain number apparently and won't alter from that. I explained it will be the same number and no extra time as my other son will be in the photo in place of me and I'll purely be there as a guardian. I even told them I'd wait outside if they were worried about too many people in the room. Again just dismissed out of hand.

As I said above I may be being unreasonable but it just seems so bizarre and needlessly antagonising. Interested in your take @RYM

TLDR: The club are c**ts.

Shame on you.

More to do with the fact I detest being in photos. I physically can't smile. I'm famously absent from all family photos if I can help it.

Closest I've ever felt to being one of those angry local newspaper people with a disgusted face.

To make things more laughable the club posted an instagram photo this morning with the tagline 'Some of our favourite images so far this season' and there bang on the first photo is my son who has missed out.

This after a bitch of a journey to get to Southampton. Pretend like they give a shit.

I made the point they had no issue in both sons attending when I had to fork out £20 for them to meet Winks & Hermansen and few months ago.

Bad PR could have been avoided so easily here.

I said that to them, they could easily and swiftly make the right decision but they, as usual, are choosing the most infuriating route.

Ridiculous by the club.

Can be said about most things regarding LCFC

Hello mate,

The club are terrible at this kind of thing and operate a "computer says no policy" backed up with a "if we do it for one, we need to do it for all" policy. When it comes to Fan Engagement neither policy make sense. It's just NO NO NO.

How old are the lads? Who were you dealing with? Not that it matters, they are all programmed the same. Even Jim who is the friendliest of them all falls back on this because they all value a salary over the fan experience. They say no because of some stupid rule and NEVER ask WHAT IF? What if they let your lads do this and this is the thing that makes them feel valued and a fan for life, what if they buy a season ticket for the next 70 years, what if they become business owners and have money to sponsor a club etc etc etc

My take on that is that they pick the phone up to you make a call, and just agree to let both lads in. Make them both (and you) feel valued and no one else knows any different. Nobody would mind in the slightest.

When my boys were mascots at Griffin Park for my last game there against LCFC in the cup, I asked the club if they could be mascots. Louise wrote back and said no they weren't having mascots at that game. I challenged that and said (we) Brentford have no issues with them leading the team out, the Brentford staff will look after them, LCFC don't have to do anything at all apart from say yes.

She came back after a few no no no emails and eventually said yes BUT the boys must buy a full official LCFC kit! (they had these anyway but WOW).

On the day the lads had a blast and the players and coaches were brilliant but the policy was bollocks and I guess I was in a decent position to push it through.

So to conclude mate, there is no rhyme or reason with the club apart from to build walls and to say NO. It makes so sense to me because in my time I just did everything I could to make fans feel special.

Create a Monday morning story, change a life and make a difference. It costs nothing at all, just a bit of empathy and a football fans brain.

Have you tried Imogen Ward, she is the new £85k a year Head of FE and SHOULD see this as a great opportunity to make a very easy win.

[email protected] is her email

She is very selective with her replies

Thanks mate. First email came from Kellie and the subsequent ones from Jim. I'm just flabbergasted. I'm not asking for any extra ticket, just for one of them to take my ticket. I'm just there as a parent. They are 13 and 10. It's the 13 year old that has missed out.

He's old enough and big enough to take it but it just seems incredible that it can't be resolved. As mentioned earlier I'll have to be picking him up from his mates on the way anyway due to the timing of it so he'll be with me anyway but reading from their emails he won't be allowed in the building without a ticket so he'll have to wait in the car.

Try Imogen and see what happens. Highly likely the outdated “if we do for one we must do for all” policy is used.

The other options are the twitter / mum mafia but that’s a bit chaotic, or on the day when you get to the front literally explain to JV that your lad is in the car and the club won’t let him in. He’ll either say get him in or he’ll see him after.

I’d have just tried to take them both and see what they say. Would they force your other son to stand outside (well they might)?
