Turki Alalshikh Or Prince Alwaleed bin Talal could easily pick us up and it’s a drop in the ocean.

There actually quite a lot of clubs have that Macquarie Bank loans

But being more specific, how many have borrowed against premier league money and are in league 1, or the equivalent drop in income wise.

I would imagine that we're a pretty nice prospect for investment.  Us having the Leeds thing and loans / money problems won't put the right people off, that just depends on the asking price from King Power in conjunction with that.  If it's not too daft we'll find an owner. Most football clubs are sold when they're struggling in some way.

This will absolutely mean that we spend zero of the money we've got in on transfers on any new players though.  Guaranteed.  They're not going to spend a penny now if they're getting out soon, regardless of any financial rules (although they can probably blame them).

Tbf they do still need to find a buyer,  and no other club will have Maquary loans to repay, so I still wouldn’t bank on it being straight forward.

I know but the idea that we should know who will buy us was absurd. As plenty of people have said, we never knew who King Power were.

My working theory is Top has had to inject some capital as mentioned on here the other day, he/the family has realised they can’t sustain that and that they do actual age to sell now.

The genie is out the bottle now though and even our value is highest now whilst we’re selling assets off and it looks like we may bounce back up. If we didn’t go up and we tried to sell we have no value at all.

We still have a Premier League class stadium, world class training facility, solid season ticket sales and a marketable name outside of England.

I’d guess at US investment, however I wouldn’t rule out investment from Asia, or even a group like Red Bull or 777, RedBird etc etc

I can see it being US … that title win might well save us.

I think we are very fortunate to have good youngsters (at this level) coming through because we were a successful premier league club when they came through the different age groups.

If you are a parent now would you want you talented kid going to Leicester with so much uncertainty on the horizon.

It is not luck it is part of the plan that KP talked about - the investment in the academy was talked about from the moment they took over and Seagrave was always part of the plan - I absolutely think that Top has made some ridiculous decisions over the past 4-5 years but they have achieved an awful lot too as our owners. The club in the heart of the Midlands with the achievements in the past 15 years will be attractive subject to the amount that the owners want - liabilities they have currently and our standing in League 1 will mean they will be forced to write off a considerable sum should they want out…….maybe the KP empire and Top just need to move on….

Also... surely if some Qatari billionaire buys us it doesn't make the blindest bit of difference anyway - we're not allowed to spend beyond our means, right?

A rich bloke owning us doesn't mean we can buy expensive players again until the club is profitable.  Unless I've got that wrong.

Would be nice to not be waiting to go bust, mind.

Nail on the head.

This is the predicament that Newcastle currently find themselves in.

Still massively unfair in my opinion, given the historical big clubs have effectively been built by throwing money at it in years gone by.

Can build infrastructure and invest behind the academy / non footballing side.

Also maybe not hire loads of shit people?

I do wonder if we became part of a larger footballing group, how does that impact PSR? Say, Red Bull for example. If we became part of Red Bull Holdings in the UK, then we’d be looking at over £1b turnover. If fiddled correctly like Man City, then it gets messy and ambiguous

For the record, Boehly got a £150m discount during the purchase of Chelsea explicitly to pay for expected fines from Abramavic's era at the club.

Also for the record Chelsea spent £50m in illegal payments which resulted in just a £10m fine and a suspended transfer ban instead of a points deduction because deliberate and sustained cheating is obviously a lesser crime than alleged £20m overspending you have to change the rules to prove retroactively...

How restrictive are League One financial rules compared to PSR? Hypothetically if we were bought by an obscenely wealthy group, would we be in a position to spend more money now whilst PSR doesn't apply, to make sure should we get promoted we have a stronger base to work from?

This is AI interpretation of the rules

League One an owner can inject unlimited money through new shares — it can bankroll transfer fees with no cap, and half of it counts as extra wage headroom. The Championship and Prem now cap owner funding AND count transfer fees inside their spending limits. It’s the last division in England where wealth converts straight into signings.

Differently rules completely.

However our turnover dwarfs all but Sheffield Wednesday realistically who are in a worse state than us.

We SHOULD win this league with ease on paper. Reality is, we are a bit of a mess so it could do anyhow. We should never have been relegated but here we are!

Out of every club we should know that you don’t need to spend money to be successful. You need the right people, culture and off field setup. Currently I’m not convinced we have any of these in place. I’d happily see us sold to someone with less money that actually knew how to run a successful club.

Of course it's news. If they really have got Citi to sound out buyers that's much more significant than anything we've had before.

I’ll believe it when I see it !
Get this idiot gone for good as it really couldn’t be any worse than this dross !

Yeah I will need to try to look into them more, I guess I was just working out of there was a possibility of us spending a sack load of money now buying young players who can improve (on lower wages but higher transfer fees) so that if we get back to the Champ and PSR kicks in, we in theory could spend less under PSR rules to stabilise?

So there’s traction now. SSN isn’t exactly the Gold Standard but there must be some truth in it now, ‘unnamed Middle Eastern Firm’, apparently . Let’s see
