Nick Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 So there will be funds but anybody got any clue what ball park we might be talking about? Do we go for shit or bust knowing what awaits us if we are relegated and if so, what does breaking the bank look like, circa 40 million in total?
lcfc sheff Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 I’d imagine we need to sell players first, like always which is always our struggle 1

That's my take we have a couple of saleable assets in El Khannouss and Hermansen. If we sale Hermansen for 40m odd you are looking at 35m profit, especially when I can see both Man City and Chelsea wanting a keeper, he has all the attributes to be in their wish list. I think he going no matter what happens. Our amortisation is around 40m at the moment, we can probably stick 15m on there which on 5 year contacts is 75m head room. Wages bill is the unknown quantity, how much head room do we have. We need a window like Newcastle had when they stayed up. We had a modest window in the summer spending less then both Southampton and Ipswich. The issue has been the Skipp and Okoli signings, 35m odd for no real impact. Mr.Bingles Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 It's time to gamble! It's either fly too close to the sun in terms of PSR rules or face complete oblivion down in the EFL. Those buggers will want to make sure we're shafted. If we get relegated we'll be down there for a good while so why not throw caution to the wind and go for broke. Things cant get any worse. We may as well get hung for a sheep rather than a lamb and all that jazz. I hope they give RVN exactly what he needs. Especially when it comes to strengthening defence. Top and Rudkin need to splash the cash on at least three perm transfer and two loans that'll go straight into the first team. No ifs. No buts. 4

We will need to ship a few out on loan / sold next month but not as severe as prospect that snookered us as before. I do wonder if one of Coady or Faes is moved on next month. Iversen or Ward will be moved on on loan too and let go for free in the summer. Thomas doesn't seem to have a future here either.

It can’t happen any other way. If we had to sell first then they’ll have lied to Ruud and we’ll not be signing another player. We could only sell the likes of Mads and Bilal (the rest are shite) and what would the point of that be. The club have to spend some money in key areas and no fcking about in the last week of window. Based on what happens with this hierarchy it’s all too much to get in done and we’ll see a lot of huff and puff with the targets we want not coming in. Maybe too pessimistic! 1
StanSP Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 Go for broke. Buy a few cheaper players with potential, sell for profit. Reinvest wisely. Simple as that
Scotch Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 I DO think that we will need to sell before we buy but not necessarily to raise transfer funds. Likely because of wages and squad space. Yes, we need a RB but I don't think we can justify having 3 of them so JJ or Ricardo will have to go. Same goes for ST. We already have 3 vying for 1 spot so we would be unlikely to add a 4th without one going, most likely French Eddy returning to Palace. That's kind of the story for every position.
FoxesFourLife Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 (edited) We need to go for it as staying in the league is vital to the future of this club going down would be disastrous we would have to sell our better players and have a points deduction and transfer embargo the possibility of back to back relegation is very real the owners know this that's why we have gambled on Rudd to attract a better quality of player in this widow as a coach he was always going to be a big improvement over Cooper clown. chuck'em Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 We need to spend and build a squad that can stay up, even if it means a points deduction next year. There's no point going down this year in attempt to meet PSR, when the penalty for not meeting PSR is a deduction, which may or may not lead to relegation next year. Just ****ing go for it 3

Don’t think you can really compare our spending alongside Southampton, they were +€160m last season compared to our +€60m. Ipswich also had a lot more room to manoeuvre with a squad that was built in League 1 with the exception of €5m worth of signings in the Championship. Plus we have the Cooper termination to factor in and associated staff.
teblin Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 I think we’ll go for it, but that might be wishful thinking.
kingpowerout Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 (edited) Can see us accepting anything in the region of £20m for Faes if any offers come in. injury aside i’m not sure he’s in favour under RVN and his ego alone will mean he won’t want to sit on the bench Edited 30 December 2024 by kingpower
kingfox Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 Whatever the budget, the majority of it needs to go on a starting calibre RB. Then hopefully we can get a couple of players with potential for around £10 million, Valentin Gomez being an example. Then finish off with a couple of loans which is bound to be expected. 2
Popular Post Sly Posted 30 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 30 December 2024 We’d be better chucking PSR out the window and facing the punishment in the Premier League when we breach, rather than get relegated to the EFL. We need, to stay in this league come what may. 5
moore_94 Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 At least squad space isn’t an issue We named 24 for the 25 man squad Send Edouard back and loan out someone like Thomas would give us the space for a few additions 3
NewquayFox Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 Buenonotte is a luxury we can’t afford so sending him back and getting Ferguson on loan would be a good move, he is never going to stay with us with Spurs sniffing around and he will go there for a silly fee, send Eduoard back to Palace on Wednesday morning, sell Faes while we can for whatever fee is offered, buy/loan a decent centre half from the championship, promote 2 full backs from our youth system as they have to be better at defending than our current 2, or buy a couple. Im sure we can conjure up enough money and stay within FFP, get some new bodies in and play them from the start, I predict the best January ever…

I would sale Faes and bring in a new CB, he's probably go for a decent fee, we paid 15m odd on a 5 year contract so anything over 9m would create a positive swing on the accounts. I think we could easily get what we paid, I think he's a player that would suit a better team. Iversen depends on Hermansen injury. Personally think we should be open to good offers for anyone other then Hermansen, El Khannous, Ndidi.

I think without the possible points deduction we would have spent more, 75m was never enough, especially when half of that was on Skipp and Okoli. Southampton also had to sack Martin. From a financial POV you can't, but from being competitive on the field of play you can.
les-tah Posted 30 December 2024 Posted 30 December 2024 (edited) Im in the risk it and potentially breach PSR camp to survive the premier league and take a 6/7/8 deduction woth a better squad but dont they make you prove your on track to comply with PSR to ensure teams do not do this?
