He's going to be missed by fans of all clubs when he retires. Even those that wouldn't want to admit it.

Actually heard some QPR fans after the game say how brilliant he is

No, he didn't.

For years I've thought he played the Stoke game.

Oh well, still 2 games though, so a bit unfair to say he never won a trophy here, as crap as he is.

Players well before our time but in the record books must qualify. Black, Chandler, Rowley. All the 2015-16 team and yes Youri. By the way that is a great montage at Arsenal where the greats are linked arm in arm with names on the back

I think it's important to keep the names of past legends alive, even if we never saw them play.  Perhaps the likes of Rowley, Hine, Chandler, Sep Smith etc pass into the category of folk hero instead, but I think that we should have a hall of fame so that future generations know what a Huth is.

Kasper did things in the FA Cup final that Ward could never dream of.

In fact, to paraphrase Ali, if he ever did dream them, he should wake himself up and apologise.

If he plays in the final we don't win. Simple as that.

Kante is a funny one, probably our most important player in the league win but was only here for 1 season before he forced a move very early.

Still a club legend for me but I understand why others don't think he is. Either way he's not on the same club legend level as Morgan, Kasper or Mahrez.

Haha I mean I fully get what you’re saying and I agree to an extent but for me football is about emotions. Seeing Matt Elliott turn Desailly on a sixpence then scoring is enough to make him a legend in my eyes even if that’s all he ever did. I’ll remember that forever.

Matt Elliott once won me 20 quid in a short lived office fantasy league. .  He scored in a mid week game in season 1999/2000 and I shall be forever grateful. 20 quid was not to be sneezed at back then. 😂

Reminds me of a bet I won for £10 in mid 70s with a bloke at work  England player photo. He said it was Mike Doyle I said Trevor Cherry. Newspaper revealed answer following week.

Trophies.

Relationship with the fans.

Goals.

Caps.

Ability relative to the club's stature at the time.

Time at the club.

In roughly that order. Can make up for 1 or 2 with a very strong case in a couple of other categories IE Kante.

I think there is a difference between a legend and someone who's time with us was legendary. But I'm ****ed if I know what it is, or indeed what point I'm trying to make.

Under this criteria Danny Ward is more of a club legend than Kante.

More like an urban legend, do not say shit in the mirror three times in a row otherwise he will appear in goal at the next match.

So Danny Ward can take absolutely no credit in winning the FA Cup.

This is becoming a bit silly.

Your argument was that Danny Ward has not won a trophy here. I disagree and I think that's like saying Wes Morgan or Hamza Choudhary didn't win the FA Cup with us. Anyway, I think we can probably all agree that Danny Ward is not a club legend...

He has a medal and the record books says he's won it.

But unlike Wes and Hamza, his influence on actually winning it was minimal.

The retired shirt number is the one I'm least sure about because it's clearly the most natural number to give to a striker. Birmingham retired shirt number 22, which is much easier to skip when handing out shirt numbers.

I do fear for whoever wears the Number 9 shirt after Vardy, though. One hell of a lot of pressure.

Agree with not retiring shirts. The number 9 shirt is an iconic shirt and should pass on to another. Shirts 1 to 11 should remain. Some shirt numbers are ridiculous and don’t mean anything at all except might be someone’s favourite.

Also think you could add coming back from tough situations. Vardy could easily have been written off at both Premier League and Championship levels.

If Vardy had gone to Arsenal he would just have been another player and probably left them a few years ago
