I’m pretty sure it’s obligation to buy if promoted same as their deal for Enzo or fee. You get jack all if they don’t go up

If that’s true then fine but I haven’t read that interpretation from a journo.

We’ve turned down 15 million for two players of pure profit.

That would have allowed us to sign three 20 million pound players and one 15 million pound player on 5 year contracts.

Mental we’ve decided to opt against doing that as the difference between staying up and going down is far greater than 15 million each year that we would need to make in revenue to cover the other years. If anybody from the board  has the audacity to come out and hide behind ‘We have our hands tied by PSR’ after this stunt for two players who can’t even get on the grass I’ll lose my mind.

We haven't turned anything concrete down. Their first proposal was a straight loan deal. They came back with a loan with option/obligation which no doubt was based on certain criteria being met (most likely promotion).

With no guarantee of an actual sale why would we let a squad player in a position we need reinforcements in go unless we can get a better replacement in, which would cost us money we can't spend under psr.

Having calmed down.

It will be an obligation based on promotion which does help us if they don't go up

Still a big initial fee which would have been pure profit.

He's out of depth in the Championship too.

Depends how much it was up front.

The 8m will be if they get promoted.

The loan fee will be minimal

hes average at best, but next season the club would not have to cash out on a new player that we already have, on lowish wages i would of though, being that hes come through the academy.

he will do a job in the Championship, but i cant see him setting it alight, although i thought he started well last season, then struggled to displace Mav and Fat

He absolutely is. Him and Luke are the worst two players at the club. The fact we’ve turned down the chance to move either of these two on is absolutely staggering.

And? He's still going to be dreadful next year. That £8-10m in PSR terms is absolutely huge and you could get so many players better than him for it.

As much as I want bash the club, this is not money up front or an obligation, so it doesn't work out as any PSR profit.

You can book “obligation” funds immediately. Because they’re guaranteed to happen. You’re essentially just letting them have him interest free for 6 months.

But you're only getting it if they are promoted!

Which is a gamble

But letting him go doesn't weaken us, and that is probably 4 to 5 times what he's worth so it's about as low risk a gamble as you'll get

How? Only if the obligation is not contingent on meeting certain criteria such as promotion  or a certain number of appearances. No money can be accounted for until the criteria are met as the obligation doesn't exist until they are.

That’s not an obligation then is it, so the article is wrong. I think this is the issue with a lot of these report, journos get phrasing wrong!

It's a obligation based on meeting conditions.

Same as Fatawu was a obligation if we went up.
