Why does it take from the second leg until today to make a decision?

I mean legally, it’s a ****ing huge decision, I’m amazed given the decision taken it’s only taken this long.

neither can you justify the wrong of what Southampton did based on the wrongs of others

I’m not justifying it. It was wrong. That doesn’t make the punishment fair or proportionate.

What gains more of an advantage - buying a quality player or knowing what tactics the opposition plays?

Every team cheats, every team tries to gain an advantage. But they aren’t kicked out of competitions or given points deductions if they are a big club.

Furthermore, would Southampton have got kicked out for an Erland Jonsson 1997 style penalty, despite the fact there would be categorical provable evidence that it decided the result? This ruling makes no sense. There’s no precedent for it or evidence that it affected the result.

I keep saying it but any argument that Middlesbrough lost because the Southampton knew how they were going to play is just not genuine. They lost because they weren’t quite good enough. What could they have possibly done that they didn’t actually do in that match? What unstoppable surprises were they planning?

I think the only way they’ll have come to this decision is because it’s been found to have been happening all season.

Makes our -6pts a none story.

This is a massive decision and as they admitted to the charges, they did cheat. What did they actually get from doing it, I really don't think it was worth it.

One thing is sure, William Salt will probably never be employed by a football club ever again.

Maybe the Secret Service is an option?

Feel somewhat sorry for the lad, thrown under the bus by the club. The higher-ups should also be named and shamed – and sacked. Or at least sanctioned.

I'm just picturing their managers face and it's making me smile lol

If they have to rearrange the final, when? May be some players in world cup squads etc.

Not to mention the pisstake for all the fans involved.

But the rule itself is pretty simple and they’ve been proven to flout it numerous times. It doesn’t matter how the game went or how crap Middlesbrough were on the day.

Considering they’ve admitted to it on three occasions, they must have done it so much more.

Especially when there’s no news on Man City 8 years after the investigation started, 4 years after they were charged and 18 months since the hearing concluded.

Perhaps they should be given physical abuse, instead?

Boro made a statement pretty soon after the semi saying the players will stay and train as normal until decision is made.

Why would Boro have had all this time?  They've only just been reinstated.  They're gonna be calling players back from Dubai and 'Beefa!

I think they kept the squad together still for this reason.

Personally I think Southampton should lose all the points from the games they've won this season (with all those teams given the points) and be demoted to League One as punishment, instead of receiving a points deduction. Saves any team getting pissed off that their season's been affected.

I mean, if there were no advantages to be had by spying, then why do it?

Don't like it ?  Don't cheat, then.

Absolutely fair.

Hull will be complaining if Boro beat them, though.
