Cooper wasn’t great. He had 12 Premier games. We did however pick up points in those games.

We are scoring less,  on seeing more and the xG stats are worse.

Before people start about Cooper having a fitter squad. Ricardo played 2 games (Forest / Ipswich). Fatawu played 11 games. Albeit some of those were minimal minutes. Stolarkzyk was a steady stand in for Hermansen.

The players are the problem, however RVN isn’t the person to get the best out of them.

When you look at it match by match and what we deserved in each, we were lucky to get even 5 of those points under Cooper let alone 10 so the writing was on the wall in terms of the direction we were going It wasn't even astute backs against the wall defending, it was either relying on Mads or the opposition going down to 10 men. Something had to change to give us a chance and that hasn't worked.

I guess the flip side argument is the lucky general could have got us around 25 points at this stage instead of 17, who knows.

I think the difference is, we were at least scoring under Cooper.

Under RVN, we’ve stopped doing that.

Those stats don't, of course, include the 4-1 defeat at Brentford , when RvN was watching from the stands.

If he goes now, those two painful Bee stings will seem like bookends!

I do think I've flipped to thinking Cooper was the better coach. I still think we'd be 19th with him in charge mind.

The only way this squad can get points is a defensive minded coach who sets up 5-2-2-1, but even then, we're too far gone and too low on quality

I think we’d be above Ipswich at the very least

Maybe...we were horrific under Cooper though. Far worse than the points suggested.

The rot was in place long before RVN came.

Saying that, he's done literally nothing to stop it, and persisting with the same failing players and system suggests he either has no clue or has lost interest and wants to get sacked.

What a shambles.

He won’t get us out of the championship…or probably even stick around to try!

Perhaps we should get the next manager in now and at least they have a head start for next season?

Indeed, but he seemed to grind results at the end. Played Ayew as a sub to go up against knackered legs and it got a few scrappy wins.

I don't think we would because the players weren't having him, they are the reason he was sacked. Those scrappy and frankly lucky wins were not happening again, the players turned on him.

The whole place is stinking, even the Pleat days wasn’t as bad as this

Pleat days we didn't win a away game for a whole year, and was in a division below

I dont understand why he thinks his best bet of winning games is starting Cordova Reid and Ayew. The wings are the areas of the pitch where you need to threaten the opposition which they dont offer

Posted

Ruud’s major undoing and disconnect with the fans has been his bizarre obsession with BDCR & Ayew and his dropping of Mavididi and specifically of Buonanotte. He’s literally taken goals out of the team and replaced it with slow non-creators who offer nothing in attack and little or no defensive ability. I still do not see what BDCR offers as a footballer. We might well have lost the games still but we would’ve scored. ELK and Buonanotte can play together and they should now for the rest of the season if nothing else to give the fans some entertainment.

Tbf, the 7 points under Ruud haven't been fully deserved.
