We should have gone for Moyes. Dyche would not be popular here. He is pragmatic and the football would be dull. People disliked Puel (remember). I would go for a younger longer term appointment and let him build. Patience will be needed. I liked Rob Edwards but he has had a mare this season. Someone of that profile. I was also just thinking about our finances. It was not that long ago we seemed to pick up an entire back 5 for about 5 million. We now seem incapable of spending less than 15 million and buying utter garbage. I really want to see wholesale changes behind the scenes and if Top's heart is not in it or he needs some help then let's get them in. I have supported this team through far worse times but I have never felt so disillusioned as I do now. I knew we had good owners and we were well run but that is not the case anymore.

Collomosse from the Daily Mail said we approached Moyes and he didn't want it.

I could see Dyche working, club needs a mentality overhaul, players need to be kept on their toes and there needs to be a far higher work rate and we need to be harder to play against.

Football would be grim, this season especially, but his Burnley side that won the championship weren't horrific

You can’t cite a lack of strategy and long term planning at the club, then back Dyche for the job. We’d be in the same cycle of no alignment.

Press the reset now, give someone like Rohl three months to suss this squad out like it’s a pre season.

Although I’m 80% certain it will end up Russell Martin

I am in the same place as you, get a young upcoming manager like Rohl or Wellens in now and give them a free hit to use the rest of the season to get their plans in place ready to hit the ground running next season.

I too have a horrible feeling it will be Russell Martin as well. Whilst we shouldn’t go for a complete change in strategy, I do think the obsession with replicating Man City’s style needs to stop and we need to find a hybrid style that works for our club.

Dyche is cut from the same cloth as Pearson imo give him a 3 year contract, perfect appointment for where we are at

A lot is said about ‘Pep deciples’ as managers and how those who played under Alex Ferguson surprisingly haven’t generally been a success in management given how good he was.

It made me think. Is Wellens the first who is coming through from Pearson? I can’t think of any others. But then they will only be of the age just getting into management I suppose.

I wanted Moyes, but I said at the time that he would need to backed in January. We haven't done that with the manager that we have appointed,so ultimately it was pointless.

Moyes categorically said he wasn't interested when Cooper was sacked. Respected journalists have reported this.

Would Röhl jump from working from one Thai headcase to another?

Despite us being a basket case, I'd still say we are currently a better proposition than Wednesday. Our squad in the championship will already be better than their's and he'd be more likely to get promoted with us. The issue isn't whether or not we would be a step up, it's whether he'd have better offers than us. I'm sure he was interested in taking the Southampton job when that was available. He'd obviously rather not have relegation. If it transpired that he'd come to us but in the summer, I'd 100% take that at this point.

Can we pin this to the top of this thread, this forum and the planet.  MOYES WAS NEVER COMING HERE

Dyche ticks all the boxes

- available

- prem and champ experience

- back room staff

- no nonsense mentality

- will play youth

I would also trust him to rebuild the team and get it right while bringing through youth, he’s had enough experience in both leagues

I can’t see us paying £5m for Rohl

It will either be someone out of a job or someone cheap

Moyes has shown how poor Dyche was at Everton, so not sure he would be great here with a worse squad.

Anyway, there is no point in rushing into another panicked appointment. We changed the manager and it hasn't worked.

We're getting relegated no matter what, regardless of who's in charge.

Yeah, it was reported we were interested in Rohl but PSR meant we couldn’t buy him out of his current club. Wouldn’t be surprised if we went for him when/if finances allow.
