Carrick is still developing as a manager and finished 10th with an average team with no parachute payments (completely respectable result!). He's got more upside than a lot of options we've been linked with.

I don’t buy that that Middlesbrough team is average. Player and potential wise, they should’ve been top 6 regulars in the time he was there. Maybe with better players he could push a team into promotion contention but he’s no McKenna for example.

Carrick does tick a lot of boxes

- attractive football

- promotes youth

- free

- played in the premier league golden era

Whenever I’ve watched boro thought they were easy on the eye. Looked to me as though the squad was not deep enough to compete

This is exactly what we were all saying about RVN lol

First thing that I thought when I seen he got the bullet was there goes Danny Rohl rather than I’d take Carrick 🤦🏼‍♂️

Carrick is free to start, has a decent record and his staff are all available. We could be accidentally ending up with a class manager. I rate him as does my mate who is a lifelong Boro fan.

Carrick is a no no. He got sacked by Middlesbrough for a reason. We are better than that.

100000000000% agree with this.

Carrick will get us between 10th and 12th in the championship this has to be a hard no.

Anyone turning their noses up at Dyche and wanting Carrick needs to check in at the mental hospital.

Fed up of ex players getting gigs because they were top players. Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, RvN, Granny lover etc...how many have been a success at where they've been?

Grinds me gears

Problem is that's straight out of Rudkins book. Famously the reason we never got to see Jarod Bowen play for Leicester is because JR didn't like his attitude at the time.

Yet he puts up with attitudes like Eduoard, Soumare, Vestaguard and co

Alonso is the only one who’s been successful that I can think of.

Even though I believe the more experienced names are underwhelming, of the managers that are available, Hasenhuttl > Dyche for me.

At least Hasenhuttl plays a better brand of football, plus his track record of developing and using younger players is absolutely excellent.

I’d take him on a two year deal, see if he can bring us some stability, then if he is still with us after two years, reassess and potentially get in someone younger.

Bring more of the people who were involved in Southampton losing 9-0 twice sounds like a great idea

Dyche is atleast a proven stability manager who has had success in the championship on a shoe string budget.

Probably almost guarantees promotion and staying in the premier league after.

I understand some Leicester fans don't like his football and want a gamble with a possibility of just reaching the playoffs but there is a huge difference in those 2 managers.

One guarantees promotion

The other guarantees missing out on the playoffs season after season after season

Dyche's success in the Championship was in a different era. A generation of brighter. more tactically-savvy managers have emerged and Dyche's brand of football has become obsolete. Not only would the football be execrable under him, it wouldn't be successful either.

Zidane, Simeone, Kompany (kinda), Thiago Motta, Guardiola...

Obviously I could go further back but that would be too easy. I assumed you meant recent players.

In fairness to Carrick, he did his time as an assistant and didn’t jump straight in. I don’t think he’s the right fit for us but he’s probably got a good management career ahead even if he has to take a lower end Championship gig or L1.

Lampard also is showing now as Cov than his good jobs have outweighed any bad.

The others totally agree.

He literally kept everton in the premier league with one of the biggest point deductions the premier league has dished out.

However I guess a gamble on an unknown manager without any experience or dealing with a PSR breach would be the best for Leicester.

League 1 awaits.

Gibson is one of the best owners in the league if you’re a manager, will give you time and will back you, unfortunately he backs a lot of dead horses. I mean even karanka while ended up paying off probably got more time than he should’ve and they probably should’ve got promoted before they did

Massively overrated owner regarding everything else though

Boro have underachieved massively the past 15 years or so given the money they’ve spent and squads they’ve had at championship level

It's strange that those decent to outstanding players who have been successful managers are all non English. It makes you wonder is it an intelligence thing?
