Leicester City are one of the clubs in the picture to sign VfL Bochum’s Bernardo in the summer window.

That’s at least what Sky Deutschland are reporting, and they cover Leicester’s interest in the defender when discussing his future.

The 29-year-old joined the Bundesliga club from Red Bull Salzburg in August 2023 and signed a contract until the end of this season.

Sky claim the Brazilian will not be extending his contract at Bochum and will leave as a free agent in the next window.

The centre-back missed the start of this season and was sidelined with a knee injury until November. He’s been a regular since then, making 15 league appearances so far.

Bernardo’s contract situation, coupled with his ‘strong defensive performances’ have seen him attract interest from clubs in Germany and across Europe, including Leicester.

The report claims Leicester, VfL Wolfsburg, Union Berlin, Villarreal and CA Osasuna are all interested in the South American.

Sky add the player has already received ‘concrete enquires’. They haven’t made it clear or specified whether the Foxes are one of those to have made a concrete approach.

Not really fussed about how good he is as we really don’t need to be adding anymore older players to the group when we are very likely to be stuck with the majority of the current ones we have

I think it is highly likely that Faes and Vestergaard move on, I wouldn't be surprised if we sold Souttar,  

 

Faes only has a book value of 6m come the summer, I think he will want to go, and we will find a buyer. 

 

Vestergaard has zero booked value, and I think he will be looking for a move if some matches his wages. 

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sheff U come in for Souttar if promoted.  

 

Could be down to Coady with 1 year left, Okoli and Nelson.

 

Could be a big turnover in the summer, Ward, Iversen and Vardy out of contract, Justin, Ricardo, Soumare, Daka, Wink, Coady and Thomas in their last 12 months.

But I personally can’t see Vestergaard going (wages) and I think Souttar will still be here due to his injury

 

I think it is actually more likely Okoli leaves (probably on loan) than Vestergaard, Souttar and Coady in which case I wouldn’t then want to add another 30+ year old to the back line

Rather we delved into the Premier League loan market like we did with Doyle, or target someone like Sampson Dweh who we’ve supposedly been scouting.

keep souttar, get this guy and have Nelson in there too

Souttar has plenty of time to be fit for pre-season, Wilder speak very highly of him, I suspect they will be back in for him in the summer if promoted.

 

I suspect Vestergaard contract has a relegation clause in it which see he's wage reduce.

 

Without the need for a fee, If we are willing to let him go on fee I suspect someone would be able to match his wages.

 

Hopefully this season will have made it crystal clear we need a massive overhaul.

Depend on what relegation clause we have in place and whether we are willing to do business on a free.

I will be very surprised if he is back for any of pre-season or even available for the start of the season

 

All of our players had relegation release clauses last time we were relegated but it doesn't necessarily mean the wages are low enough for teams in Europe where players like Vestergaard are only going to get interest from

 

They would have to make him a pretty decent offer even after the clause has kicked in to match the 2 years left on his contract he has with us, and with him being 33 in the summer I can't see many, if any clubs being willing to give him something like that

 

I expect it will be clear we need the overhaul, but the way this clubs throws contracts around moving out the players to allow for the overhaul is going to be very very very difficult especially with how stubborn we seem to be around transfer fees for players we don't even want to keep anyway

Maybe JJ did he's in start of November 2022 in the relegation season, and was ready for the start of the Championship season.

 

Souttar is was late December, so he has a decent chance of being there or there abouts.
