As was mentioned in the blue tinted stream, I would like us to grab a lower league striker.
We have seen with recent acquisitions its a punt even when you go from a higher league, except the difference is a lower league player is a much cheaper punt.
Vardy, look where we got him from, says it all.

would say Charlie Kelman is worth a look but unsure if he could make the step up(did well in L1 last season at LO under Wellens)

although he does play for QPR surprised theyve not blooded him more

You would think Marti would know all about him as he is a qpr player

I know they're likely nonsense rumours. But the short sighted nature is infuriating. If we're purely looking at 'free's'.

"Free" transfer of a former England striker on a Premier League wage aged just 28 probably equates to £4m a year going up to 5 or 6 upon promotion. + massive sign on fee and agent fee.

Or search around for up and coming strikers or gems in europe that could be acquired on staggered deals of say £1m up front and on wages more like 6 figures a year.... or a couple of loan signings on similar up front fee arangements.

The problem is, your lead striker is arguably the most important part of the team; not only do they get you the goals to win matches, but you ‘should’ build your play around them so that they’re in positions to score the type of goals they’re most suited to.

That means a good one can be a bugger to get from clubs; any striker that has any sort of goal scoring record at the level we’re looking at is going to come at a premium in both transfer fees and wages.

So do we have £20 million all in to spend on a striker… I doubt it, at least at the moment?

That probably means we are looking at ‘serviceable’ options - the unattractive journeyman free agents that you hope get your 15/20 goal contributions across a season - with the profile the manager wants.

Now from what I’ve seen from Marti so far, his setup is crying out for the archetypical number 9 to lead the line, someone who can occupy the central defenders, that then brings our wide talent into the game.

And given that… as uninspiring as the names DCL and McBurrnie are… there is some sense in us at least looking at them as an option.

We've already got that option in Ayew who is a perfectly fine second choice. Striker's the one position we need to get right - there are a chronic lack of goals in this team.

As ever I fear we don't cast out net wide enough.

I really don't understand the thought process on DCL. He is an injury prone striker who doesn't score very many goals and probably wants top money.

A hard NO for me.

Almost impossible to ever find another vardy.

What I would like to see is us have a different option. A target man that can hold up play and bring others in. When we were good my dream signing would have been Giroud when he left arsenal. Hard to find players as good as that but somebody is that ilk, not just players to run in behind.

Isn’t that a perfect Rudkin signing then?

DCL has a record of 1 goal in 3/4 games in a poor everton team for the last 8/9 years. I think he could a decent job for us if of course the cost was reasonable.

Injury free DCL would take any day of the week. Guy is built weaker than the three pigs straw home
