The issue is Cifuentes likes to press high and from the front, Ayew really struggles with this as lacks mobility whilst Daka cannot hold up the ball and the less said about his technical ability and finishing the better, in truth despite Ayew scoring yesterday, what it showed me is that neither is really suited to the managers style.

I agree with these observations; and would hope we start hearing some serious noises about a new striker this week because ideally you want to bed them before the season starts.

Get the right player - and in my mind that’s a big, physical athletic player; that can hold up the ball and be an aerial threat in the box - and I think we could be onto a winner.

Problem is - those strikers come at a premium price.

Anyone made a case for Richard Kone?

Would also piss Rodgers off who wants him for Celtic.

Kone would be perfect, just depends on what they demand for him + sell on clause

IMO Daka is a confidence player and he has no confidence. I thought his hold up play came on fairly well under Maresca and he was fairly harshly dropped after Christmas that season. I wouldn’t be overly shocked if he did well this season, though I’m sure that a deeply unpopular opinion on here. I don’t disagree that he has been pretty doggo on the whole during his time here, so far.

From the little I know of Cifuentes I expect a complete forward is what he wants. Someone big, good in the air, tidy passer to link play. Will be hard to come by in this league.

It’s not a crazy opinion though. Thing is, we change managers and strategy more often than some on here probably change their underwear. And some players look great under one manager and then awful the next. Granted, Daka has been poor under most, aside from a decent return initially under Rodgers (even if performances weren’t great, his minutes per contributions were fine) and briefly under Maresca. It’s not the craziest thing if he suddenly did show something under Cif who is different yet again.

I suspect not though and he will move on whether now or at the end of his contract. But I agree about the confidence thing

as you don’t bang them in like he did before to wha the has become now for technical reasons.

Not seen a huge amount of either, but Tommy Conway at Boro and Tyrese Campbell at Sheffield United both seem like decent and realistic options.

Funny thing about Daka is that if we were signing somebody with his pre-Leicester stats, a lot of our fans would be creaming themselves about it.

Just shows there is always a big element of uncertainty around any signing. Maybe he will improve once out of Vardy's shadow... but sadly I don't have too much hope.

Patrick Bamford is available...

Yes, he's had his injury problems recently but he worked very well in a high-pressing side at Leeds under Bielsa. Could be a cheapish option... (although, watch us offer him a 5-year contract with an obscene wage 🤦‍♂️)

8 in 20 isn't bad from a poor Cardiff side

They won 1 game the entire time Alves was on loan there so that return is excellent

Yousef Salech , I'm hearing he is a serious target

Tried to keep my eye on Cardiff when Alves was there and I remember this fella looked pretty decent. Big unit but mobile, scores all types of goals and puts himself about.

Didn’t realise he was only 23, and 8 in 20 after joining in the January window is a decent return for what was a terrible Cardiff team. Wouldn’t be against it all, right age, right profile

Still got 4 years on his deal so imagine he will command a decent fee which not knowing if we have any money could be a sticking point.

Tommy Conway (22) - Middlesbrough

Richard Kone (21) - Wycombe

Nikola Stulic (23) - Charleroi - 1 year left on contract

Mathias Kvistgaarden (23) - Brondby

Fisnik Asllani (22) - Hoffenheim - 1 year left on contract

Kasper Høgh (24) - Bodø/Glimt

Joaquín Panichelli (22) - Alaves

Willem Geubbels (23) - FC St. Gallen

Would still be quite happy with any of those who are still available from the above

The big  twats in league one and Barry Brian guru Nanak will do us a favour in return for say... Wanya Marcal on loan.

£3m - £5m max with a sell on.

I don't think we're in the market for one really

I think we 100% are and I have a gut feeling they will go back for Fotis Ioannidis. He had a poor goal return last year, however, his style of play as a striker is absolutely perfect for what Marti wants from his striker.

he came from the swedish league too, one of the markets where this club should be tapping into

As was mentioned in the blue tinted stream, I would like us to grab a lower league striker.
We have seen with recent acquisitions its a punt even when you go from a higher league, except the difference is a lower league player is a much cheaper punt.
Vardy, look where we got him from, says it all.

I’ve played 5 a side with Bamford before, a couple of times around when he was about to make his Forest debut, he was about 3-5 years younger than everyone else there and was absolutely class. I’ve always had mad respect for pros given how average he looks in the Championship and how amazing he was to play against even at that age. Yes, I’m shit at football, but still, was blown away by how good he was at the time.

No joke. I don't think many people realise the levels at each step of the pyramid.

A couple years ago I played 6-a-side in Kirby, in goal against Natasha Flint, when she played for our women's team.

Personally I'm not a watcher of the women's game but the level was so clear during the game. You could tell she was playing half arsed, and still put two past me, absolute arrows into the bottom corner both times. Her movement was quality too.
