Is it just me who is totally unexcited (or less) by Rohl….and Martin and Dyche and RVN

Problem here is I'm not really sure what it is you're looking for then.... between the 3, we have 2 young managers and one older head. All have experience in the league, two of them with promotion from it. One plays attacking, adaptive football with quick counters. One plays possession, slow, patient football and One plays defensive practical football. They are all at the level we can attract so what is it you're looking for because I'm struggling to see who you think we can realistically get that can offer us more than what these 3 do, depending on what kind of football you want us to play.

If the alternative is Russell Martin, I'll take anyone.

I'll go as far as saying I'd rather keep RVN in charge than have Martin.

Absolutely 💯.. no point in changing just for the sake of changing.. its like swapping average looking girlfriend for a slightly uglier one

The most common sense appointment. Get him in and his staff including Chris Powell.

I’d be chuffed to have Powell back. Someone who saw the good being done at the club

Wednesday are in my opinion bang on for an embargo now.
I don’t even want Rohl because of his management skills, it feels more like a humanitarian mission..

Yeah we can’t let him know he’s jumping out of the frying pan just yet 🤣

I'm all for Rohl, think he's got multiple elements that can make him a real success here...there are risks no doubt but think he's the correct long term pick.

I’d like Rohl but I am cautious as to why he would want to come to us.

Obviously Chansiri is different level, not getting paid and Chansiri is a gobshite in the stuff he says.

But to come here, where we are run by someone cut from the same cloth even if less extreme, would ring alarm bells for me.

Unless it is just a case of get out of Sheffield Wednesday, and he fancies his chances of doing a good job despite our ownership and then getting a better job before long maybe.

Things for us attracting a manager

- we've recently played in the premier league.

- even with a fire sale of players, we'll still have a decent squad for the championship

- our recent history. Yes, it feels like another era, but it's still there.

- we have the potential to attract better players.

- our training facility and academy

- potentially a chance to have freedom to rebuild the team in his model

- we are seen as one of the big boys in this league.

Things against us

- potential points deduction

-  clueless and over stretched DoF

- owner that isn't making the hard decisions.

- losing a lot of players

- transfer embargo (who knows with the EFL)

- potential for it being a hard season.

- managers treated badly/lied to in recent appointments (if press as to believed.

- the way they have treated RvN (even though he's been poo, he still should be treated better)

Some managers might back themselves to turn us around. Pearson did when we were a mess and look where it took us.

For Rohl, he may want to go to Germany, and may not want the challenge of us, but if he does he'll get some freedom that he won't get at Sheffield Wednesday.

Yeah I agree with all those reasons provided on both counts.

As I say, it was more Rohl specific given he has already been working for Chansiri to then go from that to the polo playing one.

But as I say, and as you said, if he does well he knows he can probably move on pretty quickly and so he should.

Clearly as bad as we are, Sheffield Wednesday are the pits.

I do get your point, and I agree

From what has been released, it feels to me that Rohl is pushing for a move for Germany more than staying in the championship.

I think he'll be the right person taking us forward. His football is more on the modern mould away from passing, pass, pass, pass (and so on). It seems more effective and something I can get behind.
