The odd thing is, they won’t want “unhealthy” crisp sponsors on shirts, or alcohol sponsors, but are happy to have illegal betting companies and gambling sponsors in general? A bit ****ed that.

Ah, so we've found the person responsible for making our players go missing lasts season. Must be an invisible box in the tunnel so the real ones go to run out on the pitch but it takes them somewhere else and then the Sunday league players emerge from the tunnel. Very clever.

Sounds like they've also got Top involved in the disappearing act too

Hahaha brilliant comment.

But both me and my lad walk in quite openly with a bottle of water/pop each and a bag of Haribo. Never been denied.

*Awaits next season’s inevitable denial now!*

Does the new shirt get announced at tomorrow game?

I think it'll either be today or it'll be pre Fiorentina

The same club that approve these sponsors don't allow fans to bring a bottle water through the turnstiles.

Nothing more needs to be said really 😂

Come off it, are you trying to sit behind your keyboard and say you have never placed any kind of bet before in your life?

Anyone that moans about betting sponsors has double standards.

Half the concourse at a match is either at the bookies under the stand or on their phone betting.

Whilst we’re playing games in our training kit Newport have released this banger. Worth having a look at there socials for the story behind the shirt.

Sponsor with  good logo makes a big difference to shirts imo. This ties together nicely.

I sympathise with those who have had betting addictions in the past. But we live in a world where everybody has to tiptoe around others. More should acknowledge that they’re the ones with the issue and others cannot please absolutely everyone.

With that said, there is a difference between Sky Bet and whatever dodgy outfit we’re being sponsored by. If we had Bet365 on our kit, I probably wouldn’t give a shit.

Good points. When you think of the number of people that enjoy horse racing and this is endorsed by media like ITV you can’t expect this to be cancelled though the sheer amount of gambling adverts are a nuisance. As you say the problem for us is the dodgy outfits the club associates with

New white training geat looks naff

It’s literally the same as last years version but they’ve stitched the logo on top instead of the bottom 🤦🏼‍♂️

I'm far from the most knowledgeable or eloquent on the subject of gambling and its issues, but I think a few folks are being ostriches, as Bige Nigel would say.

Yes, many people can enjoy a flutter for a bit of fun. No damage done. Same as many folks can enjoy a drink without consequences. But both gambling and alcohol are addictive substances to a significant number of people. They have a higher propensity than most things to cause addiction, and damage—if not destroy—the lives of people and their families. Allowing our club to act as an advertising board for a gambling company is broadcasting them to not only vulnerable adults, but also our children. The latter can opt out of having said sponsor on their shirts, but not on the shirt of their favourite player.

It's not about whether you've done it before, it's being conscious of how these things affect other people.

We do we stop? Should there be no sponsorship from a fast food chain or confectionery or snack foods because some people become obese
